Anyways, the head is the only physical feature you can use to deduce whether a snake is venomous or not and you have actually mutilated it.

For me, the only species of snake which I'm 100% sure I'm safe with is a "small" ball or rock python.

Cook it, lace it with enough ginger and Ghana pepper... From the taste you'll know the specie.
