Tony Elumelu is my man of the week and the week just started. I am sure we will start hearing tears about how he is oppressing the poor

I heard he has picked up bloggers who wanted to use his family to trend with fake news

I agree with this post below.
Elon Musk as the richest man in the world can't get police to arrest raumdeuter for defamation in the US.

Nobody hates banger boys more than me, but we shouldn't tolerate tyranny and lawlessness no matter what.

Something similar involved a bank whose name begins with G.

A while ago if you may recall.

This is why being rich and powerful in Nigeria is so different from being rich and powerful in the West.

Things like this is why folks say it's sweet to be rich in naija.

There's no other benefit except being able to oppress people beneath you at will, and the utter disregard for the law due to lack of consequences when money/power is involved.

This dude called VDM made it look like he was different from other NGO and fundraiser but finally confessed he invested his NGO money for his personal use.

He's different because he's transparent enough to admit this, your regular crooks will never admit this.

Investing the money on Tbills for the betterment of the cause is not a bad idea.

The struggle he's involved takes funds, that is why some of them later get compromised by government because these things take serious funds to run.

Because he is a Senator, A Professor and a Governor grin what he is lamenting about is what we discussed before about the unfairness of politics. He staked his already unpopular reputation when he decamped and became the first in the history of Cross River state to leave PDP and join the 'evil' APC. The person Tinubu is asking him to step down for was one of the biggest Obidient we had in the last election, despite being in PDP grin nothing wey the guy no call Tinubu, APC and Ayade for national dailies and as he defeated Ayade and the APC at the polls he proceeded to further mock the APC and Tinubu. Meanwhile Ayade was forming Sergio Ramos, but that's politics for you. Ayade na Buhari man he should know that like a Lion who kills the cubs of his predecessor, Buhari's cubs are being taken out. Make he obey him Party leader jare or he follow join NDC/ADC chop another disgrace grin grin

Good question. Ask him why Trump didn't get Bill Maher arrested? grin

Sometimes I just can't wrap my head around the kind of stuff raumdeuter supports here.

When it comes to American affairs, the man becomes rational on the side of good governance and policies, but when it comes to naija matter he supports everything completely opposite of what is attainable in the US.

Doesn't he want Nigeria to progress or be like the place he lives? Maybe he's just catching cruise sha, because I don't want to believe he's really serious.

Politics is not always fair indeed. You can be in politics for twenty years and not get really far, someone else can join newly and within two years get to the top despite not committing as much as you've did.

Or instances where you'll be handling the reins in a party only for newcomers to come and takeover everything, turning you into a persona non grata in your own thing you've held together for years. The game is the game sha.

When it was favouring him, he didn't complain, he should suck it up, he's not a baby, he knows how these things work.

Understandable, though not sure how ethical this might be, especially given the people didn't give their monies to be invested in whatever it is he invested them in, and there's the possibility (however slight) that the money could be lost in the process of investing it.

Always been suspect of any kind of charity, na dawan first make me hate them Igbinedion for Benin. Your pikin don thief state money finish you go dey share money during your birthdays dey form charitable man.

Same reason I hated "Rice Man" that was contesting for governorship in Edo State, and even Tinubu and the lines of beggars he has at the front of his compound, not a fan of that either. God sees all.

What exactly is the monetization that gives an influencer enough money to love large without doing adverts?

How much do they pay per 1 million views?

Do those social media platform pay better than what music platforms like Apple music, Spotify, audio mack, etc pay artists for number of streams?

Like I want us to really put things into perspective. What those social media platforms pay, can it afford a creator to live large without rubbing advert gigs?

Exactly! And mind you when he decamped he sidelined the original APC guys and brought in his own gang so let him enjoy a taste of his own medicine, he's even lucky he didn't buy forms what of the Governorship aspirants he allowed to buy forms in 2023 only to tell them that he has annointed a sole candidate, make Tinubu do am wetin he do men grin

YouTube, Facebook and IG pays, TikTok doesn't.

According to AI:

Overall cross-platform average for typical creators: Roughly $500–$2,000 per million views, but this skews lower ($200–$1,000) for Nigeria-focused audiences and higher for those with strong Western viewership or premium niches (finance, tech).

In the month of April he had approximately 56.4M views on IG.

Using $200 per 1M views, that'd come to like $11,280 from IG for the month of April.

It most likely won't compute mathematically like that sha, and would likely be less, but I'm sure he makes some good sum from these social media platforms sha. With his views he by now should have made generational money if he was taking ads.

Even our big pop stars no dey get views reach VDM...per post e go dey make like *20 wetin the likes of Instablog dey make.

I don't follow naija content creators per se. But the people I follow always have a sponsor for their clip. So if a creator actually has those views and does not have sponsors I have to wonder.

That turtle neck guy is being sponsored by mtn

Some other dude was sponsored by Trarore.

What I am saying is I suspect some of them are doing money laundering packaged as content money

You will literally find click farms in China where phones are somehow set to view and like posts

We have heard same about davidos streams.

Social media platforms pay creators who monetize their pages, and VDM's pages are monetized.

Those guys you're referencing don't get close to VDMs type of views, definitely not on IG.

Are you sure about these figures you are mentioning and do the figures apply to naija creators as it applies to those in the US and other western countries?

I'm asking this because I learnt TikTok for example doesn't pay Nigerian creators unlike their US counterparts. So that's why you see most Nigerian creators begging for gifts during live shows and running adverts to make money off their creative efforts.

So I don't know if the figures you are calling for IG and YouTube also applies to naija creatives or you are just calling a generic figure. The figures sound too good to be true considering how Musical artists who enjoy high stream figures always complain that what music streaming platforms pay them per million streams isn't much to write home about.

1M views is a lot o, and those steaming platforms no get money reach these social media platforms, so there's that.

I asked what payment was like for Nigerian creators. And music streaming Numbers is around $300-400 for 1 million streams from Nigeria. $200 for Nigerian content creators on IG doesn't sound too crazy.

Who swear for Nigerian Army?? Why are they always so enthusiastic about assaulting innocent civilians?

Now that I think about it, most people who join army and police in this country are mostly folks that failed in life or know they don't have any prospects to make it in life hence why they joined the force as a last resort, I believe they're taking out that frustration on normal civilians.

They're always active when it comes to assaulting innocent civilians but when terrorists and bandits come calling they can't stand them, they either run away or get wasted like chickens. The Nigerian military is a disgrace to humanity.

Are you really sure?

Attached is ChatGpt's result when I prompted for details of what Nigerian IG creators earn from meta for their contents posted on monetized account.

You sure say most of those content creators are not doing money laundry like GloriousGbola posited?

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:47pm On May 04
Buhari's government spent whopping $2.39 billion on the rehabilitation/turnaround maintenence of the refineries with nothing to show for it till date.

One would think each and everyone responsible for the squandering of that much of our commonwealth would be locked up in a maximum facility prison or some DSS black site by now.

Today Tinubu's administration is signing another contract with the Chinese for another misadventure on the refinery rehabilitation. Na wa o.

https://www.nairaland.com/8665708/after-2.39-billion-flop-nnpcl

How can one live in a country where there are no consequences for such level of gaming the system?

I know FB, IG, Twitter and YouTube pays creators in Nigeria when their account is monetized. Only thing I can't say with certainty is how much it is per 1000 or 1M views.

So while moetization payment might generally be poor across board, the top dawgs dem would be eating good. For a creator like VDM who arguably gets the most views per post on IG, I won't be surprised if he makes up to $10K each month.
