The factional National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has ratified the appointment of a 13-member Caretaker Committee headed by Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as chairman.

The decision was taken at the Makinde-backed 103rd NEC meeting held on Monday in Abuja, following a motion moved by the Edo State PDP Chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, and seconded by the party’s ex officio member, Clement Fagboyede.

Other members of the committee include Taofeek Arapaja, who was appointed National Secretary, as well as Daniel Ambrose, Hamza Abuya, Ihediwa, Isah Abubakar, Theophilus Dakashan, Ini Ememobong, Aribisala Adewale Idowu, Baru Shaffi, and Okechukwu Obiechina.

PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the Makinde camp would formally unveil Turaki as head of the caretaker committee.

Let wait and see INEC which is supposed to be neutral electoral Umpire to do the needful.

They start quote laws and regulations that will bring another set back, even though the head is professor of law and SAN combined.

This crisis is unending. Why the rush to set up a caretaker committee? Why not call a broad meeting of all stakeholders and resolve the crises? Wike will soon set up his own fractional caretaker committee and the journey to the courts will start afresh.

I understand from the Press that Wike has a political following in Rivers State that spans partisan party politics. It would appear to mean that he largely determines who becomes Governor after the incumbent notwithstanding the platform.

Deduction from the Supreme Court ruling clearly shows that this faction is the legitimate faction of the party .

The only issue the court pointed out was their disobedience to court injunction and not allowing a certein Guy to be part of the convention

That means that all decisions they took pre -convention were legal including the suspension in executive members loyal to wike who organized the Abuja convention

The law doesn't thrive on emotion. The supreme court judgement is clear. The fact that Wike's camp is still dragging PDP means that Nigeria is a failed nation
