So you dey compare ordinary citizen now to government officials... Really ??

Especially Nigerian officials.. Thats a very bad comparison bro.
How is this a bad comparison,? are the politicians not the ones that sold the Idea to Nigerians?

2Baba (Innocent Idibia): Music Icon, Basketmouth (Bright Okpocha): Comedian, Ola of Lagos (Waris Olayinka Akinwande): Lifestyle/Luxury Influencer and Rarara (Ahmad Aliyu): Northern Musician were the four influencers flown to India November 2024 on this CNG issue how many of them have their cars converted ?

Get an electric car
Or reduce your speed
Las las u go bow to petrol cos na petrol get power
Cng stations are very few and the next refil station might be another 15 miles from your place. Using cng is not worth it. It's like using a rechargeable bike.once e off? E don be. Abi u go fit buy gas for keg. Ogbeni. Also your car would develop mad faults within a month
You are obviously naive. You are just scared of trying new things that's all. All these things you mentioned happen to petrol/diesel cars why are you making it look like converting to CNG will make everything go out of proportion? How many Dangote Trucks with CNG don catch fire?

I disagree with u , have been using gas for my gen for the pass 12 years. , working perfectly. Have u check the thickness on cylinder tank. You don’t have a valid point. On if the gas station is not around u is not advisable.
You they mind the guy. He is just afraid to try new things but quick to say negative things about it.

Is this how Nigeria have fallen? A country blessed with oil but don't have a single refinery. What sort of disgrace it that.
Is this how Nigerians will keep shying away from the fact that they're suffering collectively irrespective of the tribe? This is so shameful, that Nigerians are now shying away from speaking about something they bought as low as 85 naira,, made a mess of the country and it's president. But now it's 1500 and nobody wants to do shi, they all just fine way to justify why they're suffering and attacking one another, forgetting to tackle the main cause of the mess.

Nawa, how long can Nigerians really go to endure this garbage thrown at them?
How does this ranting answer the question?

A man converted his honda pilot jeep and the engine developed fault. I don't think it's a nice idea. Many of these guys are professionals in the conversion. Anything could go wrong. I advise you to manage your fuel like that before you incur costs you didn't plan for

It's sad that most of the comments on this thread are coming from ignorant people...

First thing you need to understand about converting to CNG is that you are not divorcing petrol... The CNG kit is installed as an addition to the PMS engine. This means you can switch from CNG to PMS and vice versa.

The question of getting stranded on long journeys because of lack of CNG stations doesn't matter as long as you have PMS in your car or can access a PMS filling station.

Yes, CNG doesn't manage bad engine... It reveals even little issues... For a responsible car owner this should help you keep your car in check all the time... And fix the little issues before they turn big problems.

I converted my 2013 Corolla since February 2025, ever since, my Honda CR-V has suffered abandonment cause CNG saves me up to 70% of what I would usually spend on fuelling. For those saying plugs and coils gets spoilt often... That's not true... I just changed my plugs last month since conversion.

Another advantage of using CNG is the lower operating temperature. This extends your servicing period and helps your AC run cooler than when using PMS.

There are only 3 disadvantages
1. Boot space
2. Tank weight
3. CNG power is lower. This only means acceleration doesn't pick as fast as PMS.

My advice to you is to find an experienced expert to do your conversion ...
Thank me later.

Most things with many Nairalanders are you all are quick to answer to what you don't know or experienced. I shake my head at many of the comments here because first thing. *They're all hearsay or propaganda*

CNG explosion is 100% false. I even saw someone said our weather is hot 😂. Our weather hot pass UAE? Or you don't know they do conversion in UAE? Whether the weather is hot or cold, it has nothing to do with CNG. The cylinder is made up of steel, aluminum, or composite materials (carbon fiber/fiberglass) to withstand high pressures of 200–300 bar (2,900–4,350 psi). This means there's no room for explosion or fire.
Again, CNG do no spoil any engine. THIS IS ABSOLUTE LIE! If you have a weak engine (Smoking, oil spilling, Weak metals etc) the use of CNG will eventually expose it because with petrol, you were actually managing it not like you didn't know they needed replacement. But because of the non-emission of carbon from the engine, those plugs and coils you thought were good will be exposed.
Someone even said, you will keep buying plugs 😂 omó una dey cap sha. There's a recommended plug by the car manufacturer for your car, but since you've been using substandard and it was working for you, you may think CNG has spoilt it grin. If you buy original Iridium plugs, if you change it in 6months using CNG. I owe you full replacement.

I can't even go on. CNG usage is 100% better than fuel as refill stations has been springing up and this has reduced man hours on queue. Yes it eats up booth space and if you're on type 1 cylinder, there's additional weight to the vehicle. Don't let ignorant people deceive you say Oyibo no dey use am. Ask them the malaria medicine wey Dem dey buy, shey America dey use am? grin

Are you living outside the earth ?
Have you not been seeing trucks traveling with CNG cylinders at the back of the engine of the truck, some with 8 cylinders, or 10 as the case may be. Some 30 tons and 20 tons new tippers carrying sand also come with CNG cylinders, they are using gas and not petrol. They are common everywhere.

It's quite obvious that you are unfamiliar with CNG. If you convert to CNG, you can still run on fuel. CNG finishes then you switch to fuel. Secondly CNG isn't as combustible as LPG. It's natural gas that has a far lower combustion rate to petrol. Gasoline has a higher combustion rate than CNG. CNG tanks are extra strong.

Personally I have not done any maintenance on mine... Other than normal servicing that is change of oil and filter...
The CNG kit is just another tank, piping and gas supply to your engine... Like your petrol supply.. Nothing to service per say...
Except maybe checking for leakages.... You can do this once a year... Personally I have not done it sef..

Dzzzz:
I don’t know about that but if you can,you can try..
Someone asked this:
Can CNG work in parallel with petrol? A hybrid system theoretically I don't see why it can't be possible. It would solve the con of getting stranded when you don't see a CNG station.

I have this to say:

Presently all gasoline/PMS engines when converted to use CNG are automated on a hybrid mode to use both sources of energy for combustion of the engine as desired. This is enabled from a push switch that changes the mode of energy whenever you press the switch....when its indicating green light signifies CNG in operation and when Red light is on its on PMS.

The default mode whenever you start the car is always on PMS mode until you switch it to CNG mode.

There's no fear whatsoever to be associated with the use of CNG rather people should learn to adapt and take advantage of its numerous benefits.
