That is because of their leadership. If you have 5 million people in your state you should be doing better than many countries in west Africa if you have a visionary leadership. With no leadership, Lagos would be in the backwaters too

PH, Kaduna, Abuja, Jos should be more or as cosmopolitan as Lagos. Lagos only has population more than them. I believe even Enugu, Onitsha, Awka are very cosmopolitan if not moreso than Ibadan but Ibadan is far more populated. So Lagos is not the most cosmopolitan in the country

Cus the last time I checked, Lagos though small in land mass, has the highest population, highest hotels, highest industries, has the biggest and busiest port same as airport, the entertainment center of the country, highest in transportation, highest in beaches and tourism.
All these brings billions of money to Lagos State which no other states including the oil producing states can bring.
I even forgot to mention it has the highest estates in the whole country

There are cities with busier ports than Lagos but with less population than Osogbo

If any state does what former Gov Ambode did in Lagos by compelling all companies to file PAYE returns regularly or be closed down then their igr will surpass their allocations immediately even as Tinubu is helping them collect VAT and CIT from their states and sending it to them as part of their allocation

Are you saying sixty percent are non Yoruba? Because actual Lagos indigenes are not up to forty percent of Lagos population. Ekiti will have more indigenes than Lagos.

If you are saying sixty percent are non Yoruba then it is just speculation because electoral wins show Lagos is not less than seventy percent Yoruba and it may even be ninety percent because I have seen actual church member lists in Lagos where ninety percent are Yoruba and that is several RCCG churches. If you want to have a good estimate then sponsor a survey of public schools like two in every local government and take an actual census and publish it. It will give all of us something concrete to be quoting
