Asaba, Delta State – A young man identified as Aboy Odili was allegedly shot by officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) attached to the Delta State Police Command on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Asaba.

A video circulating on social media, shared by Sahara Reporters, shows the aftermath of the incident. Odili, wearing a red jersey with “RUDMAN 91” on the back, is seen sitting injured on a roadside curb beside a damaged red motorcycle. He has a visible wound on his upper arm or shoulder, with blood on his clothes and the ground. Bystanders gather around as he appears to be in pain.

In a later part of the footage, people assist him into a blue-and-yellow tricycle (keke) to take him for medical treatment. The video does not show the moment of the shooting.
Sahara Reporters described the incident as another case involving officers from the Delta Police Command. Social media posts and eyewitness accounts claim RRS officers shot Odili while he was riding his motorcycle. However, no official details have been provided about what led to the incident.

The shooting has sparked public outrage, with many Nigerians comparing it to recent cases of alleged police brutality in Delta State, including the killing of Mene Ogidi in Effurun. Some have called for accountability and reforms.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Delta State Police Command had not released an official statement confirming or denying the incident, identifying the officers involved, or providing an update on Odili’s condition. No arrests have been announced.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns about police conduct in the region, as citizens and civil society groups continue to call for investigations and justice.

Who trained the Nigeria police? Who wrote the code, definitely not the British. Cause WTF have they been onto lately?

There's a viral video of an officer smoking in public. These people sometimes are high

The next revolution that will set this country in the right direction forever will be triggered by this police.
The unrest will get out of hand and many people will die. It will be a sacrifice that will set Nigeria free from the shackles of bad leadership and corruption.

Because you learnt nothing from EndSARS the first one ?

At the end of the day, it's middle class like you that miscreants will target.

Many who tweeted " end sars" then got their own businesses looted.

Really rich men will be defended by guards. It's people like you that thugs will eventually feast on.

Was in Kano when people did " revolution" and started looting supermarkets and businesses. They stayed very far away from the Lebanese supermarkets. Them no born them well.

There's something inherently evil and obnoxious about the men of the Delta state police command. Remember End Sars was triggered because of their excesses.

Tinubu, how hard can it really be to appoint a brilliant and competent leader to completely revamp and overhaul the Police force across the nation?

After the events and the ones that led to ENDSARS, one would think leaders will learn and move to prevent another reoccurrence, but clearly, APC seems hellbent on pushing the limits of Nigerians.
