Ignore Wike’s Political Swan Song - Makinde Backed PDP NWC by Ofunaofu(op): 5:43am On May 07
Press Statement

IGNORE WIKE’S POLITICAL SWAN SONG

Today, Nigerians were treated to an unsolicited overdosage of political rascality, moral emptiness, crass opportunism, and post-loss trauma by Minister Nyesom Wike.

The Minister, a public figure, funded a media convergence where he threw decency to the wind and maligned distinguished Nigerians with reckless abandon. The session was “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”.

That show of shame deserves no response; hence, this statement is therefore not a response to his tirade, which is indeed his political swan song and the last kicks of a dying horse. This statement is rather a profuse apology to Nigerians for offering a platform to a person whose conduct, speeches, and reasoning have become not just a national but an international disgrace. We must acknowledge that if we did not lend our platform to make him a Chairman, Minister of State, and Governor, the nation would have been saved the unmitigated damage done to the psyche of countless Nigerians.

We admonish those he has defamed to seek legal redress, as no one is, and should be allowed to be, above the law.

As the legitimate leadership of our political party, we sympathize with Wike for the pain concomitant with the realisation that he will not and can never be the National Leader of our party, as no such office exists in our constitution; and even if it did, he, by conduct and speech, would be grossly insufficient to assume such an exalted office.

We understand his frustration about the commencement of the sale of forms and activities to hold primaries and eventually a national convention where a credible Nigerian will emerge as the Presidential Candidate. This will mean that he has failed in his promise to “hold down” the party for his principal. The sale of forms is ongoing, and there is nothing Wike can do about it. His delusional boast of dealing with banks that will open accounts for us is delusional, as he is already aware that we are operating accounts of the party, which is why his group of friends are receiving money through private accounts.

On the issues he raised about the judgment, while awaiting the release of the Certified True Copies of the dismissed cross-appeals, we would be glad to have the Minister tell the world what the reliefs in the cross-appeals filed by his friends were, and what the judgment of the court was.

Nigerians are assured that there is no amount of threats that will frighten the truth, and that though lies like those vomited by Wike travel faster than the truth, they will not reduce the efficacy of the truth when it arrives.

Signed:

Comrade Ini Ememobong, MNIPR
National Publicity Secretary
Interim National Working Committee

Makinde will learn the hard way. Wike has shown you several times that he is not a man to be ignored like that. As it is, no credible candidate has indicated any interest to contest under the PDP, because it is risky and volatile. Instead of divisive and belligerent speech like this, a reconciliatory journey should be embraced. Both Igbos and the Yorubas should unite and cooperate. We may even call the bluff of the Northerners and hand over to another southerner from the East though and certainly not PO. That man is too dull for my liking.

Apart from raining insults on the minister, nothing sensible was said in this press release. The minister came to the monthly press briefing with the CTC of the FHC Ibadan judgement and read it clearly to Nigerians. I was expecting the Makinde group to dispute the legitimacy of the judgement. Instead, they are talking about a cross appeal that was withdraw at the Supreme Court. If the main appeal failed woefully, what then do you want to gain from a cross appeal?

Like Wike told them, if them born them well, let them go and open account or open an office in the name of PDP. Na then dem go hear am.

The truth is that our journalist should have gotten the CTC of the judgement for everyone to see. But they are very lazy bunch.

Till I see the CTC I won't believe anything coming from either of them.

As it stands now, I won't believe any copy coming from Makinde or Wike.

And where is the so called Supreme Court judgement that nullified the Abuja convention? Can you produce it? The FHC IBADAN judgement is also a valid judgement in this case. It is a judgement that has not been vacated by a superior court. Even the Makinde faction is appealing it at the appeal court. So, what nonsense are you saying?

Federal High Court judgment in 2026? Have you been living in a cave? Yes we get it. Supreme Court nullified the Ibadan convention for the sole reason that it ignored a staying order. They will simply conduct another one. Wike, Samuel Anyanwu and his co-travellers remain suspended.

I agree with you. I don’t know how old the man is but in the next 12 years, assuming Pbat wins the next fours years and the north gets eight, he could have been a prime candidate for presidency but Wike can’t win any state outside rivers in any election if he runs.

I have. Ever wondered why Wike organised a press conference less than 30 minutes after the Supreme Court judgement? Why didn't he come with the Supreme Court CTC instead? Get yourself abreast with the latest situation. Wike is gone!

Is this how low you have sunk? Calling a Senior Advocate an Ibo lawyer because you don't like what he's saying? In the North, you're calling your former allies Islamic fundamentalist after betraying them, while in the East, you're using ethnic slurs on the Igbos. Have you heard Jonathan may soon be entering the race to contest under APM with Bala Mohammed as Vice? I wonder what you will call him then. Southern solidarity in the mud.

Study what please? This still isn't difficult to understand now. He is currently in power and one of the main sponsorers of PDP. So, he still has influence in whatsoever they are doing.
He can't do this thrash in APC.

So, use your time to study and think about something better 😆

Who withdraw the cross appeal?
If they withdraw the cross appeal, does that not mean the CoA judgement affirming the suspension of Anyanwu becomes the final judgement?
