A group of youths, under the aegis of the Coalition for Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday converged on the Abuja residence of the former president in a solidarity rally.

They chanted songs and slogans asking Jonathan to run for president again in 2027.

The demonstrators flooded the area around Taraba Close in Maitama, overflowing into nearby streets and causing significant traffic disruption in the upscale district as they chanted slogans, danced to music, and waved placards with messages such as ‘GEJ: Nigeria is dying, save it!’, ‘GEJ, Nigerian youths break the medicine wey dem do you’, and ‘GEJ, if you no run, we quench’.

The youths described Jonathan as a unifying figure capable of rescuing the country from its current challenges.

The rally adds to growing calls from various groups urging the former president to return to active politics ahead of the 2027 poll.

But Obi is strong for running away from mere primaries abi? Well, he who lives to run away, lives to fight another day. You are only against Jonathan's candidacy because you fear for what it will do to Obi's ambition. It may have been Jonathan/Kwankwaso all along. Dickson is Jonathan's man, any day, anytime.

President Jonathan is welcome to join the contest. Peter Obi's supporters should stop attacking everyone who wants to run. Why do they hate competition like this? They fear competition within political party, they fear competition in the general elections itself. Do they want us to just swear in a weakling who is notorious for running away from problems?

It's official Nigerian youths are the problem of this great country.

What is the meaning of all this?

We keep complaining that the Old folks are not giving the youths chance to rule the country.
But when election campaign starts they will mobilize their selves in large numbers and beg retired politicians in their retirement homes to come and lead them again.

Some of this youths begging President Goodluck to come and contest for president again are age mate with Jonathan, when he was a Deputy Governor in Bayelsa state, but they prefer to collect bag of rice, T-shirt, Face cap, Key holder and 20K, flaunting them and bragging to their friends and family members like they have won the World cup.
