How To Stop Checking Your Phone The Second You Wake Up by Qwikkie(op): 12:55pm On May 06
If you ask anyone about their morning routine, you already know what they're going to say. They'll pause, do a small laugh and go "eehn… when I wake up in the morning, all I do first is press my phone for like one hour before I even stand up to start my day."

And honestly? You can't even judge them. Because you're probably doing the same thing.

You open your eyes, the ceiling is right there, and before your body even decides if it wants to get up, your hand has already found the phone. Instagram. Twitter. WhatsApp. TikTok. One video leads to another, one notification pulls you into a whole conversation, and before you know it, 45 minutes have passed and you haven't even brushed your teeth.

That's how most people are starting their day. Reactive from the very first second.

Here's why that's a problem: the moment you pick up your phone, you hand your brain over to other people's agenda. Somebody's drama on your timeline. News that stresses you out. A message you now have to reply to. Your morning the one time of day that actually belongs to you — is gone before it even started.

So how do you actually stop?

First, don't sleep with your phone beside your head. That one move alone will save you. If your phone is charging across the room, you can't just lazily reach for it. You have to physically get up and by the time you're up, you might as well start your morning properly.

Second, give yourself a first 30 minutes rule. No phone for the first 30 minutes after you wake up. That's it. Use that time to stretch, drink water, pray, sit with your thoughts anything. Just protect those first minutes like they're yours, because they are.

Third, replace the habit, don't just remove it. The reason you reach for your phone is because your brain wants stimulation the moment it wakes up. So give it something else, a short walk, music, journaling, even just silence. Once you build a new morning anchor, the phone urge starts to fade.

Fourth, turn off your notifications overnight. If your phone isn't buzzing and lighting up, there's nothing urgent calling you to check it. Out of sight, out of mind literally.

The truth is, your morning sets the tone for your entire day. People who start their day calm, intentional, and in control of their own thoughts, they move differently. And people who start their day scrolling through other people's lives? They spend the rest of the day distracted, reactive, and wondering why they can't focus.

Your phone will still be there in 30 minutes. The question is, who do you want to be before you pick it up?

People who wake up without exercise of any sort, how do you do it? Don’t your bodies feel heavy throughout the day?

Easiet way to know people don know much about counselling, therapy is they say "don't

If people can don't, or stop it won't be addiction.
Re: How To Stop Checking Your Phone The Second You Wake Up by safarifarms(m): 1:51pm On May 07
I have my phones on my bedside locker at night. I check time from anyone I can reach when I wake. Except I notice something, I'm not anxious about checking my phone when I wake.
Re: How To Stop Checking Your Phone The Second You Wake Up by Franklystein: 1:51pm On May 07
No thank you, I rather be in my bed and partake in little entertainment and me time before committing myself to finding daily bread, something I won't rest from until I leave this world, no be all of us enjoy this una mindfulness sheet, some of us prefer being online watching loud people make noise.
Re: How To Stop Checking Your Phone The Second You Wake Up by DickenClarq(f): 1:53pm On May 07
This advice is not for me.

The way I check my phone in hurry when I wake up, I don't even check my food that much when I am cooking.

May God help me

And you think I would like to stop?

This is the 21st century. Everything about your life is attached to your phone. If I wake up and the first thing I do is to check my phone, I am just being me; just being the 21st century human being I should be.

When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is pray to my maker for making me see another brand new day.

The next thing I do is smooch my wife small.😃 (I nor dey miss am)

After that I get down on the floor and do at least 20push-ups before I start preparing for work..... Push-ups gives me instant energy because my blood will just be flowing faster. I touch my phone after my exercise.

You go tell person wey the wake up 4am to draw chart and set up trade make e no check phone.

Phone checking shouldn't be the issue, what you're checking is for is what needs to be questioned.

This one disadvantage I observed in checking phone firstly if you wake up..

1, you won't remember what you dream in your sleep.. .. and that's too bad ..

Well this is for the seer's, that GOD use their dream to let them see it coming

Not when your phone is your PA, if you dont check your phone, you might miss important info that should determine how the rest of day will go

150 push-ups? shocked

I haven't done that number before. When I was in school, I had an exercise partner, and we focused more on jogging, cycling, abdominal exercises, etc. The guy didn’t do push-ups that much because he was very big (a boxer), so it didn’t motivate me to do them either.

I'll try it one of these days.
