GENERATING IS NOT THE PROBLEM, TRANSMISSION IS THE ISSUE HERE. WHATS THE ESSENCE OF GENERATING WITHOUT TRANSMISSION. NIGERIA CURRENTLY HAS THE CAPACITY TO GENERATE ABOUT 13,OOO MW OF POWER, MOST OF THE GENCOS HAVE TO SHUT THEIR ENGINES OFF, BECAUSE THR DISTRIBUTION COMPAMIES ARE NOT READY TO TAKE THE POWER. UNLESS MAYBE HE IS WILLING TO ALSO INVEST IN THE TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION BUSINESS SIDE OF IT |

TechCapon:Are you ok at all? Ordinary Kaduna refinery has it's own power plant where electricity is being generated to run the entire refinery and their staff quarters since the late 70s when the refinery was built. How much more a bigger project like Dangote refinery running on generators? Do U know how stooopid you sound? |

CodeTemplar:Well, if this is for the Nigerian market, going by his antecedents we can only keep our fingers crossed (without scepticism) because a project in power generation isn't one where he just woke up and begin to trumpet. There is data backing it for him to say such. So, we wait! |

litaninja:Dangotes mindset is this: own almostor the entire value chain. Marketers that wanted to hold him to ransom have now calm down seeing his 4000 CNG tankers. I don't think he is thinking of generating for it to get dumped. Let him generate first, and then he will do transmission and if the Nigerian market is not ready...he will sell to other African countries. |

Since the government failed woefully in that aspect, I guess it's time for Dangote to do the needful. I don't see the president saying much here because he's actually a big part of the problem too. And to so called minister of power, those who are really serious about change in Oyo will not allow him to smell the governor's seat. |

TechCapon:Generation is the capital problem. We have installed generation capacity of just 13k megawatts, and at no point since inception have we even been able to even generate 6k megawatts daily out of the 13k installed capacity. Although, transmission is also a problem on its own. However, the 13k installed capacity and persistent under 6k daily power generation is insufficient to power Nigerian households, businesses and a population of nearly 250M people. For context, South Africa's 60M people enjoy over 50k megawatts daily electricity generation. |

Bros, nor vex ooh, dangote is not being run by generators but gas powered plant. The power generated by dangote refinery alone can power the whole of Lagos and Ogun states. Thanks for you attention to the matter TechCapon: |
