We are talking about government capital expenditures. Moreover, when you consider the revenue this government is generating , compare to what you listed above you will cry.

The value of what is on ground doesn't commensurate with the revenue being generated due to subsidy removal ,aggressive tax policies and floating of our exchange rate. The ultimate goal of any government is the welfare of its citizens not the otherwise
Do you think road construction is cheap particularly with the solid work you can see with your own eyes all over the country?
By the way, government money alone cannot develop a country.
The right policies and conducive environment is needed to attract capital both local and foreign.
Tinubu is the only one in a long time trying to address this issue.

If you can't tell me why the druglord should handover to obi who could not run a small state, then we will vote for the druglord again, if he decides to contest again in 2031, we will still vote for him.

Anything is possible but I can assure you that Nigeria will simply return to the period when all kinds of convoluted and senseless policies are introduced by the government just to maintain an illusion of well being.
Nigeria should be competing with countries like South Korea, Brazil and others not artificially fixing Naira rates and just going around in circles just paying salaries and no money for anything else.

Indeed. undecided

This defence falls flat when Nigerians hear that there was a hajj subsidy in 2024 - and one can wager that there will be another - this year or the next.

Kadejo:
Minister Oyedele,

The poverty in the land is already unbearable. The President and all government appointees, both elected / selected officials are feeding on the flesh of Nigerian masses and drinking the blood of the masses. I strongly believe that you and the entire cabinet members plus the President and all working with him are not among the masses., meanwhile you collect monies forcefully collected from the masses through direct and indirect taxes.

The government ensured downward/ relegated livelihood for the Majority Nigerians, and thereafter, created laws that will make it impossible to scale through when voices are aired in various means.

On day, the Almighty God will bring down the entire government structures and machineries used in inflicting pain and poverty to Nigerian masses

You use the security agencies, the court and the so called law to keep people's head down.

The Almighty God will tier you all apart. That is the only one ( GOD ) I believe can bring you all to justice.
Good write,

But I wish we as a people should have it registered in our consciousness that God is not coming to save us.

Heartbreaking but true.

Instead of consoling ourselves with the God factor, we should rather begin to organise for an uprising.

To demand for a better life in our own country.

God will not do anything and the suffering will surely continue.

Remember God will never come down here no matter what.

But I believe he has inspired us all and we know what to do, we are just too timid to do it.

So till then, na oppression and more oppression

Whether u restore it or not,u and your boss days are numbered on that seat...after it a new and better one will come and will likely do the right thing .... Nigeria will be OK,
Re: Nigeria Won’t Restore Fuel Subsidy – Oyedele by CodeTemplar:
Hamachi:

The bigger picture:
Subsidy removal was sold as a painful but necessary reform that would eventually free up funds for infrastructure and development. But for millions of Nigerians, there’s little visible relief. Instead, what many are experiencing is shrinking purchasing power, rising desperation, increased migration pressure, crime risks, mental stress, and a growing distrust in leadership.

The danger isn’t just economic hardship—it’s a generation gradually normalizing survival mode as a permanent way of life.
Dont worry. More lanes and highways will inspire massive FDI, job creation, productivity n more. Artisans will want to work more. Doctors and teachers will work more now that more lanes have been added to about 20% of federal highways.

That's tinubuonomics for you in a sarcastic nutshell.

Have nothing to show? Roads are being built all over the country and nothing to show?
Airports, railways are being built or rehabilitated and nothing to show?
You may not know but new power plants are currently being built and nothing to show?
Aggressive courting of foreign investment and nothing to show?
How did you think countries like China became developed?
By spoonfeeding their citizens?
^^^
Run the numbers instead of these vague generalizations that hide a multitude of sins.

How many kms of motorable roads were there in 2023? And how many are there now?

How many power plants have been completed since 2023? What have they added to the grid? Why has this administration done nothing about the failure of the transmission and distribution companies? undecided

You are giving us stats on portfolio investment.undecided Do you know what 'hot' money does to an economy when it gets skittish and decides to leave? Can you see how low the FDI numbers are in comparison - doesn't that tell you all you need to know? undecided

When a government is working it is easy to tell. There isn't any controversy. There's no need for tales and explanations and whatnot.

I personally think Oyedele is overestimating himself and doesn't know that Nigeria operates on a brutal history of the class and ethnic struggle.
If you think you are bolder than Gen. Sani Abacha, IBB and even Buhari, then continue your " fuel subsidy removal" boldness rhetorics.

You remove PMS subsidy, devalue the currency and have also imposed a cost reflective tarriff on the poorest aggregation of people in the world and expect no push back ?

Anyway let's see if PBAT will be re-elected.
Devalue the Naira, when?

You just proved my point without realizing it.

It isn't enough to say investment has risen under BAT. The question is: what kind of investment?

Nigeria needs FDI. She doesn't need 'hot' money.

The problem is that FDI (the good kind) tends to look for well run places with institutions and laws and rules and sensible protocols. Not countries where the average public official is always looking for someone to fleece. Not countries where prebendalism is the norm. undecided

Until BAT does something about public sector reform, this country will continue to attract foreign 'investment' that can (and will) disappear with the click of a computer mouse button. The investment that really counts - factories, equipment, plants, training resources etc.) will go elsewhere.

The so called "hot money" where do you think they are going to?
Do you think because they call it "hot" then it is bad?
Why are you not talking about the disparities between the 2023 and 2023 numbers?
What exactly do think happened to take the figures from a little over 1 billion to over 23 billion?

grin

You don't get it, do you?

Hot money goes into financial instruments and the stock market. It has caused serious harm to economies in the past.

Wise leaders encourage FDI because it lasts. It shows that the investor is in for the long haul.

Having large 'hot' money inflows in a fifth world economy is a recipe for potentially serious instability - when the money flows out - as it most certainly will.

Smart leaders look for FDI because its harder for FDI to just close factories and sell off plant and machinery and land once some profit has been extracted. Not impossible, but it is harder.

Do you get it now?

Sorry if cannot see that was a mistake! I meant 2023 to 2025.
So, money going into the stock market is not a positive? Do investors rush to invest in places where they think they are going to lose?
