A video making the rounds on social media has sparked outrage and concern in Ekiti State after it allegedly showed a uniformed police officer behaving erratically under the influence of a substance locally known as “Colorado.”

The incident reportedly occurred in a public area of Asin Ekiti in the Ikole Local Government Area. In the footage, the officer is seen holding and embracing a bench in an unusual manner, drawing the attention of passers-by and residents who gathered at the scene.

Eyewitnesses claimed the officer’s behaviour was consistent with the effect of “Colorado,” a psychoactive substance commonly abused in parts of the country. The video has since gone viral, prompting widespread discussion online.

Residents have called for a prompt and transparent investigation into the matter, emphasising the need for accountability to restore and maintain public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force. Many expressed disappointment that a law enforcement officer could allegedly be seen in such a state in full public view.

As of now, the Ekiti State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to verify the authenticity of the video and take appropriate disciplinary action if the officer is found culpable.

The NPF should do something about how they recruit their personnels, recruiting people through politicians is the reason for people like this. Also, Nigeria is no longer a small country that can't provide body cameras for the police, behaviors like this would have been quickly noticed and something done about it by the authority before it got to the public if he had a body camera💔

This is Malaysian colos, thats how it used to do for those that take it and know about it.

But this is highly condemnable for an officer of the law to be engaged in. Imagine if he was holding a rifle, he definitely would have shoot someone cos the spirit of colos go dey tell am what to do.
