Obasanjo Speaks On Air Peace Experience On Lagos–london Flight With CEO Onyema by Islie(op): 6:35pm On May 09
by Onuado Cynthia

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has publicly endorsed Air Peace following his experience aboard the airline’s Lagos–London flight alongside the carrier’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema.

In a video clip circulating widely on social media, Obasanjo was seen conversing with Onyema during the flight, where he described the airline as “a necessity,” a remark that has since sparked widespread reactions online and renewed conversations around trust, reliability and safety within Nigeria’s aviation industry.

“Air Peace is a necessity,” the former president said in the viral clip while aboard the international service.

The endorsement from Obasanjo, who served as Nigeria’s president between 1999 and 2007, drew praise from supporters of the airline, with many social media users describing his comments as a strong vote of confidence in the carrier’s operations and safety standards.

One user, @AviationGist_hub, praising the safety mechanisms employed by the airline wrote: “…Air Peace is a trusted brand, that’s just the truth, why won’t it be trusted, because Air Peace have the highest safety policy in Africa, that’s just the fact, when it comes to safety, even the elites know it’s Air Peace.”

Another user, @Remilekun_Joyce, posted, “Baba Obasanjo carry our chairman dey run o, Baba Obasanjo is such a sweet and loving father, Everybody loves Air Peace, except clout chasers.”

Industry analysts say endorsements from high-profile figures can influence public perception, particularly in Nigeria’s aviation sector where passengers often place premium importance on safety, operational consistency and customer confidence.

Founded in 2013 by Onyema, Air Peace has grown into one of Nigeria’s largest privately-owned airlines, operating domestic, regional and international routes, including its Lagos–London service launched as part of its international expansion drive.

The airline has repeatedly highlighted its commitment to safety, regulatory compliance and fleet expansion as it seeks to strengthen its position in both African and global aviation markets.

Rubbish, P.R. on fleek. Allen Onyema better fix the quality of his airline operations, it is not like he has monopoly to begin with. With complaints about Air peace being heard once every three months, it might not be long before customers go for a better and comfortable alternative.

Ok na, I hope children of hate dey learn... undecided
I saw one clip from a scene in the US where their police were doing all that sophisticated work with heavy gears and equipment… honestly, it looked pretty cool. Then as usual, one of the children of hate showed up in the comments to drag Nigeria.

Started talking about how Nigerian police collect bribes, how there’s no light at police stations, blah blah blah… saying all sorts of things like he was desperately looking for validation and sober attention from Americans in the comments. Funny thing is, none of them even reacted or replied to him.

It was only Nigerians under his comment asking if all that was really necessary. And of course, his fellow children of hate were there too, adding more foolish comments for foreigners that honestly don’t give a damn about them.

Allen the man who took it in his strides.

Give the national carrier to this man.

But Nigeria is a country where competence is sacrificed on the altar of political patronage.

Air Peace needs to upgrade its public relations office. Complaints from passengers are not attended to by the airline's image makers.

Used Airpeace to Freetown and back... It was a good experience flying with them. They even gave us a free boat ride from the airport in Lungi to the main town that should have cost $60. To and fro was less than $1000 and flight time was over 4hrs with one stop at Accra when returning, and 5 hrs with two stops when going (Accra and Monrovia). The other flight available, (Ethiopia airways) was going to charge over $1500 with about 4 stops. Thank God for airpeace.

You should also ask Air Peace customers:
- Have they been stranded before because of the airline, with the airline slow to action regarding accommodation?
- Have their flight being delayed by 6 hours or more before?
- Have they been treated poorly by Air peace staff before?
-Have they literally been defrauded of flight tickets to an unapproved destination eg. The Jamaica/Barbados dumping incident.
I am a supporter of the Airline but I don't support continuous bad service without improvements.

The same plane I flew from London to Nigeria without any entertainment service. The screen no dey work and they asked us to be using our phone to watch that they would connect us to their entertainment service. No where to charge the phone and few of the seats were ripped off.

At that moment, I said never again.

I even wrote to the customer service and nothing happened.

We lack maintenance culture and the foreign airlines will always be competitive.i Air Peace is a dying airline, no need to paper over the cracks.

People like you are the problem Nigeria.

Do you really think I care about who handles what if competence is factored?

This ethnic reason is why most of you do not want an Obi presidency even if there's the chance that things might (MIGHT) turn around positively just because he's Igbo.

Read my lips and comment, if a Zimbabwean will make Nigeria work, I'll back him/her for progress.

Obasanjor with foresight gave Dangote the refineries but somehow, Musa took them back. Most of you without the know how of how government works still think Yaradua is the best president since 1999.

Lemme tell you something, I'm his short time in office, Musa did more damage and we're still suffering for it till date. I know it is too deep for you to understand but that will be a discussion for another day.

Nobody is going to hand over anything to igbo— it doesn't work that way. Igbo people have to demonstrate that "wonders" first with what they have at hands. Let's see the wonders in their states and region first. You can't give what you don't have, man.

This company will pay more for PR than fix their shitty operations with bad customer service personnel

They have left me stranded more than once by indiscriminately canceling flights and reschedule of bookings

NIGERIA DOESN'T NEED ANY MORE BREWERIES.
Because religion has beclouded your reasonable sense of reasoning, you see brewery as a sin.

A brewery is an industry that employs millions of Nigerians.

You're just pained that Obi saw the opportunity and took it.

Nobody is complaining about cigarettes because Obi did not build a plant to oppose the establishment on that.

Listen to me and listen very well, if Igbos smoke as much as other tribes in Nigeria, Obi will happily build not just a plant but harness our reach to the source (Tobacco) and give us value just like he did with Hero beer. Today, Hero beer is an indigenous and acceptable brand. Show me one cigarette with same brand and national appeal.

Emancipate yourself my friend from mental slavery.
