This is a good idea. i hope there'll not be a reverse policy in the near future. It'll give more and genuine interest. Not dem dash me the course.

This policy is Apt!
I fully supported it.

This makes absolutely no sense especially considering how unreliable ssce is. The best you could have done is reduce the score requirement or set a different, less specific method of testing them.

These guys don't seem to understand that Nigerians will always take the path of least resistance. Now you'll have that category being saturated by people who don't even have any interest in it but just want to have a certificate by any means possible and be done with it.

So those with C6 will be your children's future teachers.
Lol
You can still get an A and study education. It's been the worse students and lowest marks getting education anyway. People who get high UTME score will likely do change of course from agric and education already. That's the reality.

Tinubu, I stand with you any day and any time, and thrice on Sundays.

Once you pass WAEC, you are good for the university. Why many exams because you want to become a modern farmer to feed the nation?
Good one I must say but then should these Modern Farmers and Modern Teachers be exempted from taking up jobs in Banks, Administrative roles too?

All just to encourage people to go into agriculture.
Is that how bad it has been in Nigeria
What part of the world do the brightest students prefer to be teachers and farmers?

Lol… enter without UTME then switch to another course in 200L that requires UTME. Is this not a loophole?
Change of course in 200 level is not as easy as you think..oo.
Expecially when it comes to inter-faculty switch.
It has a lot of requirements that at times most students couldn't meet.

There would be an influx of incompetent teachers in the next five years as a result of this policy.

Well-done Minister Tunji Alausa ..

Returning the Education system to those old days of Teachers Training Colleges....where you just need 4 credits to enter Teachers Training..No need of JAMB.

We will have more formally trained teachers ..instead of many graduates that found themselves accidentally teaching because they couldn't get job with their main course of study.
This will still not make candidates want to study education and agricultural related courses. Government needs to make the two sectors lucrative by investing and introducing positive reforms to attract people.

Lol these guys just keep lowering the standards year after year.....in fact education course should be as strict as medical course... It should never be an alternative for people that scored below 200

LOL it won't work even before this policy inter-faculty transfer is not possible for some courses

Forget those assumptions, people still prefer it to others fields of studies. It's all a matter of interest.

The policy seems good, but I feel it will make more people look down on the education sector. Why lower the standard for admitting the people who will teach future leaders
Nobody is lowering the standards with this move. It is a great move. Agriculture courses like Agriculture Extension, Animal Science, Soil Science, Animal Science & Husbandry etc are hands on and practical. Why do students need JAMB to study such courses in the University 😲😲? Go and check the Faculties of Agriculture in our Universities. They have lots of empty classrooms in these Faculties . Look, if after admission to study Agriculture Courses and students cannot cope, then they should be told to leave the university system, simple. No need for JAMB exams for some courses in Education and Agriculture in our Universities. Cheers.

So candidate will still be required to pay for jamb reg stuff....

But just won't participate in the exam.

It's not cool shaaa. Why taking money from participants again?
Re: Education, Agriculture Candidates Exempted From UTME - JAMB by tonididdy(m): 6:13pm On May 11
You exempt them but they are still required to "register" with jamb

.... You still want their money in other words

Pls define hands-on? Last i checked agriculture students have a wide curriculum that covers soil chemistry, biochemistry, genetics and breeding, even physiology. Most of you think agriculture is only hoe and cutlass. This is a recipe for disaster. Did the minister even consult tertiary institutions or even fo through the new CCMAS? Waec thats even fraudulent with many students hiring mercenaries. The joke of it all is they want to improve quality of education and you reduce the entry level for those going to Colleges of education. What happened to raising the payment package along side the quality of service delivery?
