The South West remains the most marginalized region in the country. Unfortunately those who gain the most have no regards for their benefactor. Even the Northern state that battling terrorism are doing better than the South Eastern states. Peter was a governor in one of those states. OredoPikin:What is the topic of discussion right now? |

Parachoko:VAT is a consumption tax. Are you aware that vat charges by banks in all states in Nigeria are reported as lagos due to Headquarter been there. Dangote cement, coke and other big companies so same. So technically it is not lagos generated |

During buhari era Lagos & rivers took the fg to court on this hilarious vat sharing issue Normally now that tinubu the defacto gov of Lagos and now president and his ally wike should you will think they would have agreed and come up with the law for states to retain their vat While the fg generated vat from import and ports etc should be the one to be shared But No Their action then was just on deceit to unsettle buhari, just has they are doing with state police |

Good. My dear Edo State should reduce the tax on people here. I can see some Yorubas screaming "unfair" in the comment section. You will never see the statistics on our oil revenue: what each state contributes and what it receives. The reason is simple: our south south states and two states from the southeast are feeding the whole nation. The so-called oil in Ondo is an offshore drilling on Edo land close to the Owena River Basin. When you want to talk about justice, be just by not selecting on the side that favours you. |

I love how most of the States indirectly got back what their citizens contributed to Lagos, Rivers, and all other high-earning States for a balance , |

I can bet my two balls for this list that something is faulty somewhere . How can Akwa Ibom state earn more than contributed. A state that's in top 2 oil producers in the nation. How na?? |

Na Ogun and Anambra shock me. both are highly industralised and heavily commercial yet they collect more than they receive. Na Oyo surprise me pass. whether na Ibadan or the mining revenue from the hinterland, their VAT revenue is really commendable. How Borno mamanged to perform better than most states, that should be the major talking point of this thread. |
| Re: What States Contributed To The VAT Pool And What They Received In February 2026 by okoloto: 2:39pm On May 11 |
The truth is that the state governors receive so much and do so little. No wonder all is shouting on your mandate we stand because monies / foods are taken away from the Nigerian people and handed to them to do whatever they like without accountability. Local governments allocation may not be included here ooo which they also seat on. APC is a total disaster because they don't consider the common man. All our wealth is handed to a very few cabals while hunger finishes the rest of Nigerians. The center allocation was not mentioned ooo and still we take loans everyday to fund the so called projects. Shame on anyone that will vote APC back to power. |

The state-by-state VAT comparison in Nigeria is misleading because it does not reflect actual consumption. VAT in Nigeria is not collected at the point of sale like in many countries. It is mostly paid where companies are headquartered or process transactions. Dangote Refinery pays VAT in Lagos but sells petrol across Nigeria. Car importers pay VAT in Lagos ports but the cars are used nationwide. Nigerian Breweries pays VAT where its factories are located but sells across the country. So we should stop using VAT figures to push false narratives about which state contributes or consumes more. |

If dangote has sited all his companies in kano, nobody will be talking about this lies. Dangote alone pays the highest vat in Nigeria. |
