Your experience makes you talk in perspectives.

Would you ever expect anyone to trust you in any situation at all?

Ugochukwu was not hale and hearty

I'm sorry for your loss, but a lot of people are walking around really sick and not knowing.

Nigeria has very, very poor diagnostic medicine services, which is why everything is "malaria and typhoid".

BP 212/120
SPO² levels 89
A heart murmur
DVT
Fatty blood clot moving from your leg to your heart
A heart attack (even kids can have one)

Most of these things will give you little to no warning and the warning will come less than 24 hours after death.

By the time you're rushed to the hospital, there's nothing anyone can do.

It's not your village people, it's not because anyone is out to get you (be for real, why would I go to a babalawo, sacrifice my soul just to spoil your life instead of bettering my own life? How important are we in the general scheme of things sef?) it's just Life punching your checkout card and poor medical services.

Again, I'm sorry for your loss
this is the lack of logic in all of this people from the village bs

We have no reason to.

There's something fishy about this story , how can an Hausa man like an igbo man as a friend and even so heartbroken to mourn his death?

Ugochukwu was healthy as anyone can be when he took his annual leave. He was excited too, because he can finally visit his aged Mom in the East. He came to the office and bid us goodbye - we wished him the best experience as he visits home. Nothing seems out of the ordinary.

A month passed. We were anticipating Ugo's return, but we got a call instead - Ugo is hospitalized due to "malaria" which excalated so fast that he had blood in his brain. How? Why? Where? I don't understand!

This morning, we received news of his death. It makes no sense. Absolutely no sense.

Is it now a crime to visit your village and see your aged mother? Is it now a crime to go home with gifts for family members? Is it now a crime to succeed in your career? Do you have any idea the battles he had to face to make it that far?

Ugo, God will judge every person that has a guilty hand in your death. I refuse to accept it as natural. There is nothing natural about a vibrant young manager dying at the very point of his breakthrough, in the arms of his aged mother, simply because he visited home.

Ugo's case has brought it home for me. I don't trust no one hence forth. I don't want any id10t around me. And I certainly don't have to visit any 4king village.

Now I understand why people relocate after making it.

Evil m4kers!

RIP Ugo!

You said he had blood in his brain that means he had haerrhage( bleeding to the brain) that is severe, the cause of that you did not say or .know. what are his medical condition?
You are now blaming and cursing who may not have hand in his death . May the Lord forgive you of your ignorance
Re: Do Not Trust Anyone, Not Even Family by Tendd: 9:45am On May 12
He maybe had an underlying illness.Looking normal outwards does not mean people are healthy. So customary of us to blame others when disaster occurs.Exercise your body regularly and you would prevent most diseases. How many Nigerians can even run a 5k or 10k race? With all the health informations available,we still record the lowest life expectancy in the world.Rather than take preventive measures,we are quick to apportion blames on relatives or imaginary spirits.

Some persons just dey find way to be greedy and stingy to their love ones.. and blame them of silly things they know nothing about.. I Love my siblings and will always do be it up and down times... bro one thing alot of this men don't know is... sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry. I pray we no go hit the cry day when we just help an innocent sibling. Then we will foolishly blame them for our falls. Not knowing it's already time to see that cry day.... May the friend soul rest in peace. Las las none of us dey leave this place alive. grin grin

Couldn't have said it any better. While I sympathise with the op, saying that one shouldn't trust anybody is a recipe for poverty and disaster. Humans aren't wired to be alone. I think the better perspective is choose the people you trust wisely. Blood in the brain suggests he may have been hypertensive which was probably unchecked and had an aneurysm as a result. How we're still this backward in this century of free information enough to believe that somebody can somehow spiritually control your life outcomes is beyond me.

Crab mentality is very very real. Some people cannot rise and would rather everyone remain in their level. People with this kind of mindset will do anything to pull down those they perceive to be better than them.

Stay away from Nollywood, it is dangerous for your mental wellbeing. First of all, I sympathise with you for loss of your friend, it is always heavy to bear such a loss.

Death comes anytime, young or old. Weren't poor people died? But village kill only the promising glory. Yes, I agree there are evil spirits but they cannot kill unless those that have predestined to die in their hands.

Leave matters for God. Village have powers to kill him in Kano, why would they wait for him to come? God created Death to take souls

Am I ignorant of the medical jargons you used? Certainly.

However, a man was exiled to a "desert" to suffer, yet survived and thrived. The same man already completed his promotion training before visiting home for his annual leave to spend time with his aged mother. The same man already booked his return ticket and was supposed to depart the next day when he "suddenly" fell ill due to "malaria" then lost consciousness (not due to any accident oh), then got blood in his brain, and then died. All this happen in less than a week.

I may not be a medical doctor, but I am not ignorant of the spiritual angle to things. I do not doubt your medical expertise, buy I certainly doubt your exposure to the reality of life and the roots of things.

I would rather be ignorant of medical jargons but be realistic, than to be a medical "doctor" playing the ostrich concerning reality. That is the bigger ignorance you need "the Lord" to cure you of.

Yes, it is a true story.

He was transferred to Kano from the East. So he decided to visit home and spend his annual leave there. Apparently, he is doing better than what some people wanted. So they killed him.

I remember when he came to Kano and in our discussion he told that he believed his transfer to Kano was a way of frustrating him out of the job. But he survived anyway and excelled.

He just got a promotion and his official car is already on the way, but he never returned to get it.

People are just wicked.

They sent him to Kano to be frustrated or killed by insecurity (as ignorant Southerners perceive about Kano), yet he survived. So they waited for him to come home so that they can do it themselves.

Now you understand my pain.

I grew very fond of him. He was teaching me how to speak Igbo, and I was teaching him Hausa.

I call him the "Lion" and he calls me a "great man". God knows I am still mourning Ugochukwu. I tend to easily develop a friendship with Igbo guys, even though I am Hausa. I think it is because of how straight forward they are. I hate corner corner people.

I will miss him.
This is too shallow. Not every health condition is caused by village people.
You are also shallow for your conclusions.

African mentality

No one killed him

I ve seen people died of jet lag et al. No be everyone dey fit to travel

Long travel stress, dehydration, high blood pressure, or an underlying condition can trigger it. People sometimes describe this as “blood in the brain.”

Without medical reports, you are already blaming village people. You described what could be subarachnoid hemorrhage. Other than looking healthy, do you know Ugo's preexisting and underlying medical conditions? All these recent incidents of "collapse and die" didn't emanate from village people. How many people do routine annual medical check-up? Many people are not even aware that they are hypertensive.

Rubbish insinuation, infact the poster may be educated but sounds uneducated. So someone has bleed in his brain and it means it must be due to him visiting his vallage and everyone including his family wants him dead? Do you know if he had underlining medical condition such as high blood pressure?
My old time friend, was to leave for naija the next day to supervise the phase 11 of the estate he was building in Abuja, he had a stroke, was able to call 911, he was still coherent to respond to being asked when he took his BP med last, of which he said he could not remember. This guy had a vain burst in his head leading to stroke. Infact if he had gotten on that plane and it happened in naija he would have been dead. He was in hospital for 6 months and now at home under care, we are praying for his speedy recovery. His family or village people attacked him all they way in London abi?
I have spoken severally of my driver that fell sick, meanwhile his family had accused his neighbor who gave him banana to eat as being responsible, innocent neighbor ohh. Only to find out it was stroke he had, and had been showing signs on his way home from work, his colleague noticed he had slurred speah while driving, infact he said he had never heard of BP before. Guess what, some time later, his older sister was walking to work and slumped and died immediately ie BP issues too. Na village people or family members do am?
Oga people die every day and that is a fact of life, some deaths could be preventable, it is possible your colleague did not know he had HBP or knew but not taking his medication.
To be near peoope like you that think this was should be avoided, anything you do, they will think person wants to kill them. How much money did the guy have sef that people want to kill him, does he have 10b? Abi he has money up to dangote or Otedola? Are his village people so much in poverty they will think another poor man needs killing?
May his soul rest in peace and almighty grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

My brother you really feel hurt for this friend but apportuning blames baselessly does not honour the memory of your friend. In fact it even opens your own shallowness and bias which you tried to cover.

Your topic says so not trust anyone including family. You came back to claim that he was sent to Kano to be killed and he survived so they waited for him so they can do it by themselves. Then I ask you, are those people, family also working a t high positions in the firm that they were able to send him to North? No medical details attached, no autopsy, nothing but you have publicly pointed to some family members in the east, including the mother of the deceased. This is not right.
