The streets of Braamfontein (student town in Johannesburg) were filled with blue celebrations and beaming with joy as students and staff marked the rebrand of Rosebank International University College previously known as Rosebank College.

Parent company ADvTECH announced the name change on Thursday 14 May 2026, saying the new identity reflects the institution’s growing footprint beyond South Africa and its ambition to become one of Africa’s leading private higher education providers.

The rebrand aligns the institution with its Ghana-based entity, Rosebank International University College Ghana.

ADvTECH Group CEO Geoff Whyte says, “the new name and corporate identity support the institution’s vision of becoming Africa’s largest and most respected private university”, adding that enrolment growth has continued to rise both locally and internationally.

The rebrand also introduces new graduation regalia, updated SRC uniforms and the institution’s mascot, ‘Bank’ the Pigeon’.

Braamfontein Campus SRC Head of Internal Communication Obakeng Makeca said the rebrand creates new opportunities for students and aims to strengthen engagement between students and the SRC.

Managing Director and President Linda Meyer said the institution plans to expand international academic collaboration while preparing graduates for both African and global opportunities.

Since we saved them, we should save our selves. I always wondering how we could save another country and cant save our selves since that we dont have ordinary light. See University strcuture na, the entire country called Nigeria has nothing close to this.

Establishing higher institutions and expanding into other african countries but destroying foreign african businesses is hypocrisy.

It's possible. I'd advise them to stay within campus premises - they should be safe there. Always follow the news and stay indoors anytime you hear of rising tensions.
