Shot In The Head For Not Denying Jesus, They Stole Her Sight Not Her Joy

Suzanne was given a choice: deny Jesus or die. When Islamic militants attacked her village in northern Nigeria, they demanded that she convert to Islam but Suzanne refused.

Because she would not deny Christ, a militant shot her in the head. Shockingly, the bullet did not kill her, but instead passed through both of her eyes, leaving her blind. The attackers assumed she was dead and left her beside her father, who had been killed in the same attack.

When villagers later came to bury the bodies, they discovered she was still alive.

Although the assault left her blind, it didn't take away her faith in Jesus as she would boldly declare, “They stole my sight, but not my joy.”

And when she was later asked in an interview by Ryan Miller: “What would you say to the man who shot you in the face and took your eyes if they were standing here right now?”

She replied: “I have nothing to do to him. We’d shake hands of love. We would hug each other, we would pray. I don’t hate him in my heart ever because he shot me. I have already forgiven him. I’m praying for him always that God will forgive him and also forgive me too. It's what Jesus teaches us..”

I am well aware of the teachings of Jesus that we should rejoice when we're persecuted and suffer all manner of evil for His name and Gospel sake, which I have also preached severally here, however I am not oblivious of the fact that it's much easier said than done.

Therefore seeing a woman who's faced such extreme level of persecution, almost killed because she refused to deny Jesus, losing her sight in the process, in addition to the unimaginable suffering she endured as a result, still radiating so much joy when talking about Jesus is profoundly astonishing and bring His Teachings much alive.

She seems an epitome of the peace and joy that Jesus gives, because it clearly wasn't tied to the things of this world (as that which the world gives) but to things from above, otherwise she would have lost it.

But she still had it and in abundance, because the joy that she had, the world didn't give it to her so the world couldn't take it away.

If you don't know the bible pls don't quote it. The same Peter died for not denieing christ he was nail to the cross upside down. Building the church means Peter will be the head after he's gone and Peter was the head of the church till he was crucified upside down for mot denieing christ.
