This criticism usually comes from Young Earth Creationists who believe that the earth is less than 10,000 years old. Because the radiocarbon method can reliably date carbon containing objects much older than this, they apparently feel uncomfortable with the results.
Now carbon dating can be used to date material presumed to be less than 60000 years, but often time fails to properly date well known objects which are about 2000 to 3000 years. The evolutionist and scientists believe that the carbon dating is not perfect but also ancient artifacts have been found embedded in rock formations claimed to be millions of years recently I came across a post that claimed that there was once a rain fall that lasted 200mil years ironically the creationist have been defending the authenticity of the Bible by the discovery of aquatic live fossils in strange places like the Sahara desert proving the great flood. several other findings have been discovered that proves the creationist view such as the discovery of fossil of animals calculated to be millions of years but still had the looks of it's modern counterpart, or mountain formations claimed to be millions of years but embedded in them human objects that are only a few thousands of years. Clearly proving that the folding,sedimentation, volcanic activity or any other process that lead to formation took place far less than the millions of years but likely the great flood or some other activities.
The bible states that eternity is placed in the heart of every man, another passage reveals that only a fool will say in his HEART that there is no GOD, more surprising is the claims by some Nigerians who have witness and experience individuals who use charms and witch crafts, sacrifices of all kinds with proven monetary and power gain, to later deny the existence of the spiritual realm solely because of some online materials or mere privilege of traveling abroad. Many claim that Christianity was political, no doubt they are those who use the church to actualize their selfish aspirations but the very slavery which you know was strongly opposed by the church (people like former unbeliever John Newton fought for the abolition of slavery). Repent now and follow Jesus no repentance in the grave, man fell short of Gods standard by sin and the wages of sin is death, eternal condemnation. God honors his word more than his name as written in the bible, henceforth the method He used to save, forgive man and still maintain his standard and proving his Love was through sending another man, one without sin to pay for our sins. Carbon dating is just 1 out of several radiometric dating methods. This fixation on carbon dating is would be funny if it wasn't borne out of deliberate misinformation. Some people used the wrong radiometric dating on a sample that they weren't supposed to and started trying to discredit the method. Bro how can you use spoon to try to break bone then say spoon is useless because it couldn't break the bone.

First, you don't usually use carbon dating for samples older than 50,000 years. For such samples you use MULTIPLE methods (such as Potassium-Argon (K-Ar) dating and Uranium-Lead (U-Pb) dating) to get a more accurate time fix.

The elements used in dating are not stuff that has undergone chemical bonding reactions, if it has then it wouldn't be the same element would it? What chemical reactions retard or speed up radioactivity?

I find it interesting you're backing up a standard of scrutiny which they don't hold themselves to. For all of the extra ordinary claims, all you get is "the bible says" and when they try to imitate the standard with pseudo-science, you get nonsenses like "aquatic live fossils". The hypocrisy is way too glaring.
