It's depends on your mind and what the level or how far the capacity of your brain, mentality and thinking can go. If you are myopic in reasoning, you wont see anything good this govt is doing. At the sane time, if you see only the bad situations without doing some little investigation by reading about achievements or reasons achievements are being delayed by a disgusting few. Then you have illogical reasoning and Tinubu might not need your vote. You can give it to people you think alike & most likely to worsen the case you are in right now. E.g obi.

Take this simple survey, check around the world, how much a liter of fuel is sold, compare n contrast to Nigeria, also the minimum wage & standard of living. Then you might have a clue of who to vote

Exactly.
Only God can stop him.
And we pray He will.
I disagree totally.
God has already given us the power to stop him. The power is in our PVC. God will not come down to do what you ought to do by yourself.

That he made you alive and healthy that very day of election is enough, he has done his own part, you should do your own by voting and defending that vote, no one, not Ghanians, Lebanese, Americans, Kenyans or Japanese will repair our country except we.

Do you know the story of Jesus of Oyingbo? Despite the suffering, hardship, and pain his followers endured under him, they still worshipped and defended him till the very end. That is the dangerous power of hypnosis and blind loyalty.

The supporters you are talking about have reached that stage. They have become so emotionally attached to this government that they can never admit anything is wrong, no matter how obvious the failure is.

Even when the policies are hurting them directly, they will still defend it and insist that the suffering is necessary for a better future. Even in hunger and hardship, they will keep justifying incompetence instead of demanding accountability.
It's like the story of Boxer in Animal Farm. He continued to say "Comrade Napoleon is always right" despite all his suffering, until he was sold to the knackers who turned him to glue. How can anyone with conscience continue to praise this government of frivolities?

Blockage of governance wastage is the solution.

PO has always advocated that he will stop governance wastage and theft. And with his "from consumption to production" policies the burdens of fuel subsidy removal will not be felt.

instead of favouring politicians, PO government will be favourable to the common man.

Once PO is elected the north will be the next goldmine.

Nigerians will be prosperous. ⁶
My dear brother, when someone asks you what Peter Obi will do differently, kindly know that one na your personal enemy. As we speak, the fuel, education, electricity, and health subsidies have been removed. So, where are the massive subsidy savings they told us would be used to turn Nigeria into Dubai? Well, it is being stolen and diverted into private pockets.
Without ready money, what do those evul men in power do? They go and borrow money abroad to develop this country, then steal the money and go to borrow more. As we speak, this government has borrowed more than all the previous governments combined and is borrowing more almost daily. And through all that, one of their minions will be asking you what Peter Obi would do differently. Stone am

Even if fuel sells at N5000/litre in Nigeria,

Even if no more electricity supply in Nigeria,

Even if transportation cost from Oshodi to Apapa goes to N10,000

Agabadorians will vote Tinubu to make matters worse.

It's ethnic bigotry.

Princedapace:
I was battling with network issues recently, and it reminded me how difficult it has become to survive here. There is no stable electricity. Most of us survive on generators.

South Africa achieved significant progress in electricity within two years, yet after four years, nothing meaningful has changed here. It is still the same story and the same daily struggle.

Now, remove emotions for a moment and look at the reality:

A kilogram of gas is about ₦1,400. That is extremely high for a country with very low salaries.
A crate of eggs is between ₦5,500 and ₦6,000.
A bag of cement is around ₦12,000. This is one of the reasons house rent has skyrocketed, because many citizens can no longer afford to build homes.
Renting a 2-bedroom apartment in most state capitals now starts from about ₦2.5 million and above. That is insane for a country where the majority of citizens are struggling financially.
Fuel is around ₦1,400 per litre.

Fuel powers our generators. If you run two businesses, you may need two generators.

For someone like me who works online, I need electricity almost 24/7. A huge part of my income goes into fueling and servicing generators because, most nights, my generator runs till morning. I work with clients across different time zones, sometimes at 2AM.

What does all of this mean?

Our purchasing power has dropped drastically.

Yet, despite these realities, the tax burden keeps increasing.

I honestly want to ask: does the government truly understand what Nigerians are going through?

Even someone earning ₦25m–₦30m yearly in today’s Nigeria is not necessarily living comfortably. A large percentage of that income already goes into solving basic social problems and surviving.

You pay for:

Electricity
Security
Healthcare
Transportation
Water
Education

Everything.

So where exactly is the money left to pay huge taxes from?

How many Nigerians can genuinely save millions yearly after handling all their responsibilities as parents, children, and providers?

To survive, many people are already being forced to reduce their quality of life:

Cutting down electricity usage despite terrible heat
Moving children from good schools
Switching from bottled water to sachet water
Selling better cars for cheaper alternatives because of fuel costs
Cancelling vacations and basic comfort

The painful part is that many self-employed Nigerians hustle endlessly just to stay afloat, yet at the end of the year, they are still expected to pay heavy taxes.

One of my friends, despite earning what many would call “good money,” is already in debt because of school fees and living expenses. Yet, government expectations are based only on income figures, not the harsh realities behind those figures.

And remember, this is a country where many parents depend on their children financially just to survive.

Honestly, many leaders cannot relate to what ordinary Nigerians are facing because:

Their electricity is sorted
Their security is sorted
Their healthcare is sorted
Their feeding is sorted

So they may never truly feel the pain of the average citizen.

Dear Nigerian leaders, Nigerians are suffering.

We are exhausted.

What could be done differently?

Reduce excessive tax burdens. Maybe 3 percent for now. Please, this country is poor or increase the threshold to maybe 50m per year if you truly wants to target the rich for income tax.
Fix electricity.
Tackle corruption seriously.
Improve security so farmers can return to farms safely.
Support the tech economy so more young people can earn online.
Invest in skills and digital opportunities.
Cut down excessive government spending and luxury packages for politicians.

Nigeria is a poor country with multidimensional poverty. In many homes, one working person carries the burden of an entire extended family.

Tax should not be the first priority when citizens are already struggling to survive.

As I write this now, my area is in complete darkness again. Families will spend heavily on fuel tonight just to have light for a few hours.

So I ask again: after paying for survival, where exactly should the tax money come from?

We are tired.

The bills are too much.

please can someone push this to front page?

I want to understand why the sacrfice must be done by the suffering masses instead of the politicians. I am curios to know why. Why must I suffer what I didn't cause?

Ani e ponu seh, Walahi! If no be spiritual slavery, bewitchment, or blind loyalty, how can any right-thinking person still defend a government like Tinubu’s?

This is not even about reversing policies; it’s about prioritizing good governance over exploitation and corruption. Every day, the government introduces new taxes, removes subsidies from everything that once gave ordinary Nigerians small relief, and then channels the money into inflated contracts and questionable spending without due process.

Tell me one real benefit the average Nigerian is enjoying under this government. Just one.

Public school fees have increased outrageously, yet the solution they offer is student loans for poor citizens. Imagine a civil servant now needing loans just to send their children to government-owned schools.

How many honest civil servants today can genuinely build a house or buy even a tokunbo car with their salaries without resorting to corruption or side hustles?

My brother, you don’t have to defend failure simply because the people in power share your ethnicity or religion. Bad governance is bad governance.

I read and liked your post last night, but reading this comment of yours that I'm quoting here, I'm sorry to say you're mistaken.

The reason why there's hardship in the country is because of two things: Subsidy removal on fuel and Forex.

Which of those two things has Peter Obi come out to say he would bring back? Why didn't he do these things you're praising him here for when he was the governor of Anambra state. He loves education so much but, as a governor, he increased school fees for Anambrans. I want to believe you're not one of those unruly bullies called Obedients, so answer the question logically and not emotionally.

Listen, none of Tinubu, Obi, and Atiku have the answer to the troubles bedeviling the Nigeria. The foundation on which this country is built is faulty. And to correct that foundation might require something very uncomfortable like a forced restructuring, revolution, or war (God forbid).

You really negated your initial post by presenting Peter Obi as the solution to the things you labelled up there.
Bro, you've said it all. There has to be an event that'd shake the faulty foundation of this country.

This sham we call democracy isn't going to work. The evil politicians who benefit from the rot won't wake up to change what they benefit from.

The politicians benefit immensely from poverty. They benefit from ethnicity and nepotism. They benefit from insecurity. They benefit from organized religion. They benefit from all sorts of corrupt practices.

These are the things bedeveling this country. These are the things the politicians will keep encouraging.

Something really strong has to hit the faulty foundation of this country for a reset. Else we'll continue to retrogress until humans go extinct.

The problem of Nigeria is not something any of the incoming candidates can solve infact not even peter obi.
The structure of the country itself won't even allow it to progress.

Current presidential system we practicing is too expensive.

What do we even need a bicameral legislature for?
Legislators should be working part time.

We should go back to parliamentary system of government.

We should a create a new constitution with stiffer penalties for corruption.
My bro,

Let's be clear with our thoughts.

It is untrue that none of the candidates can solve nigeria's problems. Untrue especially for obi.

They can if they want to.

You've mentioned one critical thing. Cut down on govt spending.

What stops a president from sponsoring an executive Bill to the nass proposing a unicameral legislature (meaning way fewer legislators)?

What stops a president from doing the same to propose 60% cut on salaries AND ALLOWANCES of all politicians or better still politicians should earn on the same salary scale as civic servants.

Let the president do this and let the legislature now be the one to frustrate the Bills, then the Nigerian masses will see the faces of the lawmakers who will argue against such bills and the masses will be incited to take up the fight.

At least, the president would be said to have set the ball rolling even if there will be resistance, he has cleared his own name.

So let's stop the narrative of 'nobody can fix nigeria'. It's the lie they want you to believe so that yall can accept hardship as a normal thing

Corruption fight

Tinubu has failed in all. Like I said, give me a reason, u have not.

The millions you hear is just figurative and have no real corresponding value to it. The economy is so basterdize such that our daily survival is by divine grace. If things are very rough for someone who earn this much, then those who don't have are really in big shit.

It's time to keep sentiments aside and focus on how this country will recover from this unfortunate situation that it has been subjected my politicians, mostly Buhari and Tinubu.

Vote wisely.
Now, someone is talking. I fall under such bracket of earning and I am poor. It is a complete disaster except u are ready to completely shut down ur standard of living. Like I said, Tinubu introducing a wider tax is terrible. I dont know if journalists dont ask these guys questions. We cant copy western world, no na. They were heavily industrielized and producing economy. We are not, we import and heavy taxing and import dependant economy is disaster. Why cant someone talk to these men? According to Tinubu, if u earn between 25m per year, u are an executive earner and if u are someone who works online, ur tax deductable wont be much, so u will be paying around 8m plus as tax at the end of the year. Even without income tax, u barely will save 3m out of such earning especially for young couples building life. Where will someone meet all their responsibilities, and still save up 8million to pay Tinubu? Like how na? Come on, this man should read our comments. He needs to be voted out. This is why I love South Africans.

I disagree. If politicians know that they have only one term to prove that they deserve a second term, they would sit tight. But because we have so many insolent people that praise a failure like tinubu, we would continue to have non performing politicians. Despite the glaring failure of Buhari, he completed his 2 terms at the detriment of Nigerians. That’s what gave tinubu the audacity to wanting to go for a second term.
The problem is, tinubu and his predecessors are all alike.

That he removed subsidy does not change that idea, tinubu was forced to remove subsidy because there was no extra money in the budget...but then he brought it back, only for the financial pressure to force him to remove it again.

Nigerians want the government to subsidise everything they use and to pay for their housing , water supply, and so forth while they live the good life. Nothing fundamentally wrong with that, except that they want the government to spread 100 billion dollars on a good day among 230 million people.

That cannot work. Unless there is borrowing...and already a lot of the 100 billion dollars has gone to pay off oid debts.

Yes , there is corruption, and corruption is happening because the system encourages it. When you have an issue where most do not pay tax...as seen in Nigeria, and by tax, I mean personal income tax, what you have is a system where there is sharing of money, and the closer one is to where the money is shared, the more the corruption. And because Nigerians are not paying a chunk of their income in tax, like the whites do, they are not incentivised to fight for better leadership. Result is that leadership becomes an ethnic game...

And that is why we keep on having tinubus.

But most of you don';t get it. That is why many here think I am supporting tinubu, a man who left Lagos worse than it was before he came, and who is currently starving the power sector by his polices., among other things. And yes we suffer because we are a poor country. But ask Nigerians to vote for a leader who will take us to imprved productivity and fiscal discipline, and dem go call you agbasoeosde. The same tinubu that is doing the opposite of what one argues for.

That's why I am pissed with this site, and with online Nigeria. You guys want the easy way out, and your government always obliges. Then you cry when things don't change.

Re: Give Me One Reason I Should Vote Tinubu Again by IyaTola: 2:34pm On May 17
Nobody is saying people should stop living decent lives just to survive bad policies. Wanting clean water, good schools for your kids, light, comfort, or even a simple vacation is not luxury — those are normal things people work hard for.

The real issue is that the economy has become so difficult that people who are earning more still feel poorer. That’s not because citizens are irresponsible. It’s because inflation, taxes, poor infrastructure, and the rising cost of living are squeezing everyone from every angle.

So when people say “cut your coat according to your size,” it can sound insensitive because many Nigerians have already cut everything possible. Some people are no longer buying things they enjoy — they’re struggling to maintain basic dignity.

Citizens are not angry because they hate paying tax. They’re angry because they pay more and receive less in return. If people could see good roads, stable electricity, security, healthcare, and quality public schools, the conversation would be different.

Nobody should be made to feel guilty for wanting a decent life after working hard.

So, I should stop drinking bottle water which is a sign of cutting my cut according to my size so that I can pay tax to govt? Or take my kids out of good schools and put them in cheaper ones so that I can pay tax?
I want to understand wht u mean because that is all it means.
Nigeria has made some of u believe that only Politicians deserve good life. That u and ur family should sleep inside heat every night.

IyaTola:
I hear your frustration, and honestly, many Nigerians feel the same way. The cost of living is painful right now, and it is fair to ask hard questions about leadership, priorities, and why ordinary people seem to carry the heaviest burden.

But if we want to understand why some people may still support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or ask for patience, the argument is usually this:

Nigeria’s economy was already deeply damaged long before this administration came in. For years, the country spent huge amounts subsidizing fuel and defending the naira artificially. Those policies made things look cheaper on the surface, but they also drained government finances, increased debt, discouraged investment, and created massive corruption opportunities.

So the current government believes that removing fuel subsidy and allowing the naira to float are painful but necessary corrections, not because suffering is good, but because they believe delaying those decisions would eventually crash the economy even harder.

That does not erase the suffering people are facing. It does not magically make ₦1,400 fuel or expensive food acceptable. And many citizens are justified in asking why politicians still appear comfortable while ordinary people are told to sacrifice.

That anger is valid.

But supporters of the government would argue that:

- reforms usually hurt first before improvements appear,
- states now receive more allocation because subsidy payments reduced,
- some investors are returning because policies are more market-driven,
- and fixing problems created over decades cannot happen in one or two years.

The real issue many Nigerians have is not just the hardship itself — it is the imbalance of sacrifice.

People can endure pain more patiently when leaders also:

- cut their own luxuries,
- reduce wasteful government spending,
- show transparency,
- and visibly share in the sacrifice.

That is where many citizens feel disappointed. Nigerians are not only asking for economic reform; they are asking for fairness, empathy, and evidence that leaders understand real life outside government convoys.

Your post reflects something deeper than politics: exhaustion. A country where citizens provide their own power, security, water, healthcare, and education will naturally resist heavier taxes because people already feel overburdened.

And that is the conversation Nigeria honestly needs — not insults between political sides, but serious discussion about:

- how to grow incomes,
- how to reduce the cost of governance,
- how to restore purchasing power,
- and how to make sacrifice feel shared instead of one-sided.

Nobody likes suffering. People simply disagree on whether the current hardship is a temporary transition toward recovery or just more pain without results.
The best comment I have read so far and it shows you are smart. And yes, that is what I have been asking. Why should be taxed more and bear the burden when I didnt create it?
Why didnt govt focus on tackling the leackages and block corruption?
Take for instance, if govt today annouces that there is a mandatary 60% cut in the package allowances of all political holders, give a cap size for appoitments, take all cash recoreved from such move and openly invest in fixing electricity. If electricity is stable, the impact of expensive fuel wont be felt heavily. The challenge Nigeria has is that everything we do relies on fuel. I had two businesses, a restourant and a tech training institutes. I shut them down within one year because the cost of running two generators were too much and I had to run generator at home too. I shut them down. So, if we have stable eletctricty, at least fuel will be for car alone and that can be manageble.
U cant tell me to sort out my electricity, education for kids, healthcare, security, and stil tax me up to 25 percent of my personal income.
Those who mismanaged the country, where are they? have we persecuated any ex president? Why are those who failed this country walking freely?
I will support Nigeria with my life if I wake up and hear that no more bi-camera legislative house, no more mouth watering packages for them, that a sitting house of rep member can be tried and a harsher corruption sentence await them, that all ex presidents and generals are facing triers, that families and investments looted are recovered, made digital that Nigerians can see how the money is spent into critical structures for the Nigerinas, I will gladly pay tax. But none of these are done and this man wants 25% of my sweat which I even sourced abroad. No way! Nigeria should kill me, i want to even die. I am tired, exhusted and I dislke this country with passion.
How can the ruling class who messed up this country be balling while those of us who didnt mess up the country pay for it? What has happened to those who messed up the country? Is there a life sentence or death penalty for public corruption? China is doing it, why cant we?
