Immediately I saw the topic heading, The first movie that came to my mind was THE MIST. As expected, I saw it on your list. That movie haunted me for a long time after watching it.
Other notable mentions: 'The Descent' and 'Lone Survivor' (true life story). Evil dead.

That was so shocking and completely UNEXPECTED.

That movie ending deeply saddened me, despite being a work of fiction.
