In Ogun State for example, almost every former governor seems to see the Senate as the next political destination. Ibikunle Amosun is already a senator, Gbenga Daniel is also in the Senate, and Daru Dapo is fighting tooth and nail to become senator after he completed his 2 terms in 2027.

Allowing former governors to move straight to the National Assembly is gradually becoming a political soft landing for dem, and many people see it as a way for them to avoid serious scrutiny from agencies like the EFCC while still keeping political protection and immunity after leaving office.
