Cell issues. Some cells are having issues in your location alternately.

The cell your device gives priority to when you select Auto may be different to when you select 4G only.

Auto will likely make your device want to aggregate, selecting the primary cell that allows the best aggregation.

If the primary cell is faulty, you won’t be able to browse irrespective of the how many cells were aggregated.

4G only will connect to a single cell — often the best available one.

That’s why you can even lock bands. Because the band you lock today might misbehave tomorrow. Best you can do is to restart a couple of times when your network goes bad.

You can also draw the attention of Airtel. You may be lucky and they’ll send their engineers to your location to test and sort the issue(s).

definitely, I'm 💯 percent certain of that. I still have a 3 months ODU sub on Airtel running, might switch to MTN after it expires

They started this particular network mode issue newly. I woke up and my internet is off, no service. I just knew it's not proper so I switched modes a few times and the service and Internet resumed.

The speed will reduce when you use a particular size of data.

Just left the mtn office in my location. No mtn 5G ODU router here.

that I'm not sure about that yet, but going by the ussd code I think it's for all sims but will only work in router as router based plans.

*Someone told me they did training for the ODU devices but deployment isn't full yet.

*Update; Just left the mtn head office for PH. They said mtn don't have ODU. I insisted they do, so after a few inquiries, they admitted they don't have it in that location.

I just called MTN CUSTOMER'S CARE and inquire regarding the MTN ODU, i was told that the price is 30k naira for the unit [entire package] and i can goto their outlet and get one. I will note say my state at the moment so as make scalpers nor go buy the entire thing finish den dy will now be selling at high t price as Bleep.

Does that lives in ibadan you can visit any mtn shop closest/available to you. A friend just got his MTN ODU today 20/05/2026 from there for 30k . I think this will be good for new users who are just coming into the ODU shit. Compare to airtel 40k package/installation
