KANO, Nigeria — Campaign-style posters bearing the image of former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, appeared across major parts of Kano on Tuesday, fueling fresh speculation about his possible presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The posters were prominently displayed around the busy Dangi Roundabout and other strategic locations in the city, drawing attention from commuters and residents and igniting conversations about the evolving political landscape in Nigeria.

Amaechi Emerges in Early 2027 Conversations

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and former Minister of Transportation, has been widely mentioned as a potential presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The sudden appearance of the posters in Kano is being interpreted by political observers as an early move to build support in the North-West, one of Nigeria’s most influential voting blocs.

Why Kano Matters in Nigeria’s Political Equation

Kano remains one of the most politically significant states in the country due to its large voting population and strategic importance during national elections.

With more than a year to go before party primaries begin, early campaign signals such as the Kano posters suggest that political maneuvering is already underway.

amaechi is more capable than Tinubu, obi and atiku.
He did fairly well as a governor , far better than obi and also did well as a minister, he was the face of buharis govt with his train revolution.

actually such VP's only step down to become so-called vice Presidential candidate due to their regard for the unconstitutional zoning arrangement. And to me I respect such people because it shows they can read the room to know when their candidacy won't fly, not because they lack the pedigree to contest for the highest office in the country.

All the leaders that transformed their nations were bad politicians.


Politicians are only good in playing politics to win elections but very terrible at leadership.



That's why Tinubu has been a collosal failure. He focuses all his efforts on playing dirty politics to win elections and when it gets to leadership, he unknowingly plays politics with it, sharing key political appointments meant to be given to competent people to his political allies, stooges and party loyalists who are usually incompetent.
