Dangote Activates Olokola Seaport Plan In Ogun by dre11(op): 10:49am On May 20
By Udeme Akpan

The Dangote Industries Limited has commenced preliminary engagement and survey activities for the multi-billion-dollar Olokola Deep Seaport project, a key component of the Group’s broader Vision 2030 expansion strategy.

The proposed deep seaport and industrial enclave, spanning over 10,000 hectares, is located within the Olokola Free Trade Zone across Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State and stretches eastward toward Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State along the Atlantic coastline.

The project has already received strong backing from host communities, whose leaders expressed optimism over its economic potential and praised the industrial vision of the President of the Group, Aliko Dangote.

Designed as a strategic logistics and export hub, the project aligns with the Group’s ambition to expand into maritime infrastructure, logistics and export-led industrialisation as it targets becoming a $100 billion annual revenue enterprise and one of the world’s top 100 companies within the next five years.

Leading the company’s delegation to the host communities, Capt. Jamil Abubakar, Managing Director, Infrastructure & Logistics, Dangote Industries Limited, said the project would transform the region economically and position the communities on the global map.

According to him, the deep seaport is being developed as a logistics gateway for an integrated industrial ecosystem that would strengthen Africa’s maritime trade capacity and support regional commerce and economic development.

He explained that the port would serve as the logistics backbone for Dangote Industries by facilitating exports of fertiliser, petrochemicals and refined petroleum products, while also supporting future Liquefied Natural Gas exports and the importation of heavy industrial equipment.

“The Olokola Port project is a major step in unlocking Nigeria’s economic potential, strengthening trade, reducing pressure on existing ports and supporting industrial growth. It will create real opportunities for host communities through jobs, business activities and long-term development across Ogun and Ondo states.

“With its strategic location, Olokola will serve as a key gateway for exports and imports, boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness in regional and global trade. This project reflects our commitment to building infrastructure that benefits both the people and the economy at large,” he said.

The delegation, accompanied by land surveyors, estate valuers and environmental consultants, visited the Ode-Omi community in Ogun State, as well as Araromi Seaside Kingdom and Igbokoda in Ondo State, where community leaders welcomed the project and pledged support.

Re: Dangote Activates Olokola Seaport Plan In Ogun by TheDemola: 11:21am On May 20
If not for Amosun's selfishness and stupidity, Olokola should have been the home of Dangote Refinery and Dangote Fertilizer, instead of the present location at Ibeju Lekki.
It's good that Dangote is going there again after the backing by the present Ogun govt and incoming govt of Yayi

This is the way to go. We don't have to wait for the Federal Government to build ports. State Govts and private investors can collaborate to make things happen. Same way airports have been built by State Governments.

"..it targets becoming a $100 billion annual revenue enterprise and one of the world’s top 100 companies within the next five years."

That's a huge target, but very possible

Boladogailese:

1. His business does not have to benefit anyone other than himself because it is a private business.

2. I suppose he will mainly be employing wealthy people to work in the business and benefit only the rich from the multiplier effect within the business.

Una no dey get number 6 at all

This dangote no dey send the north at all, 90% of his investments are in the SW. This is why we should all strive to make sure we have peace in our region, the only thing that is making him and other heavy investors to invest in SW is because it is relatively secured than other regions. I heard him in obe of his interviews in Bahamas where he said he's going to build the largest steel refinery in Africa in Ogun state after this deep seaport.
