raumdeuter:I don't think Nigeria is ripe for such experiments. People will kill each other for stupid reasons, for tribalism/religious reasons, even debts. You owe me and you don't want to pay, puff. These people that still sell their votes to the highest bidder and vote along ethnic lines are the people you want to be allowed to have guns. Are you serious? If Nigerians are allowed to own guns, what is happening in the US will be child's play. |

raumdeuter:I don’t think Nigeria is ripe for widespread gun ownership. Though It may reduce some cases of banditry or kidnapping, but it will also increase everyday violence and crimes. Many issues people currently leave for God, family, elders, or the law because they cannot physically retaliate will suddenly start being “settled” personally once guns become easily available. Debt issues, land disputes, tribal or ethnic disagreements, relationship problems, road rage, and ordinary arguments could easily turn deadly. Even worse, there are situations where people already feel frustrated because powerful people often escape justice. Cases where someone knows the law may protect a rich or influential person, or where a case gets to the police station and money changes everything, are examples of matters many people normally leave for God before, But once guns are easily accessible, some people may decide to take matters into their own hands instead of leaving for God or relying on the weak system In a country like Nigeria, we are already struggling with tension, corruption, and weak law enforcement, more guns could easily bring more bloodshed than security. I bought 3 plots of land in 2015 for close to 1 million, the same man who sold the land to me later resold it to another person in 2020. I have not received a single naira in compensation or refund. Meanwhile, land in that same area now costs over 3 million naira per plot. And this kind of thing happens on a daily basis in Nigeria, while our law enforcement agencies are not really helping matters. Situations like this are part of the reason some people argue against widespread gun ownership. Personally, even if I had a gun, I will not do anything, but another person in the same situation might decide to take matters into his own hands. |

MorataFC:You made a very vital point in your third paragraph. Nigeria is a country where justice hardly gets served in most cases; If gun ownership becomes a thing in this country, dead body go surplus! People would just use their guns to serve that justice they didn't get under the legal system. Imagine a situation a minor is violated by an adult but because the adult has connections, the case is buried by the police because the adult is from an influential family that has deep connections in government. Shebi the father of the minor will just carry his gun to kpoof the yeye adult that escaped prison sentence for his predatory crime. All this one that an employer would have ex-employees arrested because they decided to resign and ask for their entitlements, blood go too flow ! Even ordinary road rage that result in Wheel spanner and jack being used as weapon of choice on Lagos road, we would just be witnessing motorists unaliving themselves with their respective guns out of anger. Our Mortuary go too full with corpse asear! |

MorataFC:They should try it for the sake of the people who think that'll magically fix Nigeria's insecurity problem, Raumdeuter doesn't care if the country is thrown into even greater chaos as long as he can find an excuse to remove Tinubu from the equation. Very wise guy. If it is actually implemented, the same people calling for it's implementation now will be the ones begging the government to halt it within 6 months. The number of deaths that will be recorded in that six months alone will be more than the total deaths due to gun violence the US records in 10 years. ![]() You know Nigerians like testing new things like they said they were tired of PDP and wanted to try out APC only to find themselves in a bigger quagmire. |

MorataFC:Do you think govt will distribute free guns to everyone? You still have to apply for it Even in America where guns are legal not everyone has it You said if you have guns you wont use it, so would majority of the people until a day comes when you need it. If Nigeria any community not a police barracks has 98% chance it will be easy prey Some of the politicians are saying they should open an army garrison around Oriire LG why? Because they know a presence of people with guns will likely make the bandits to think twice, now how many places can we place cantonments in the country that will make us feel safe? Think of gun ownership as an insurance policy, most times you dont need it, you hope you dont need it but when its absolutely necessary you will be glad you have it Look at the state of the entire west Africa now, almost all the countries to our North are in some form of turmoil which ISIS and Al qaeda have an interest in. From Mali to Burkina to Niger 3 weeks ago the terrorists attacked and killed Mali minister of defence. You might ask what's our business in Nigeria, what that means is that there will be a steady supply of ammunition, terrorists who need money to finance their wars, more converts to terrorism and refugees who will be desperate enough to take to crime. Many of those we call abokis in Nigeria today are not even Nigerians they are from Mali Nigeri etc You can also say why cant we seal our borders. The border is porous even in America drugs and human trafficking still take place In the last 20yrs Saharan Africa has tasted something evil and it will be difficult to eradicate. The chances are that it will spread |

raumdeuter:Tinubu himself said the buck stops at the table of the president. Tinubu is now the president, he should fix the insecurity. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 2:20pm On May 21 |
TemporaryHansel:There is a difference between political talk and reality everywhere in the world. The source of the problem is deep. Same reason why every American govt for the past 50yrs cannot fix drug smuggling despite promising it every election |

Kudos to President Tinubu for appointing a young professor as the new JAMB Registrar. This is a commendable step, and I believe he will greatly improve the examination body through innovation, transparency, and efficiency. |

izzou:Power pass power. He miscalculated by fighting Wike in his first term. This was the best deal he can get. If he hadn't gone to APC when he did, he would have been impeached long ago. Just enjoy till next election, Show your allegiance to the APC party, Go resume houseboy work for Wike house, follow dem dey dance for campaign ground, embrace the APC candidate. so they can let you eat in peace and not chase you after you leave Just like Ambode |

raumdeuter:So Tinubu knowing sold us fake dreams in APC, cos how did we go from Boko Haram Terroist in Borno during Jonathan PDP to Terriost in Oyo? Seems APC has made every situation worse for Nigerian Life since taking over? I cannot say there's 1 area that impacts the quality of life of the average Nigerian that has improved. All these roads, bridges etc we had similar Jonathan, Orisa Tí o bá gbémí,fi mí sílẹ̀ bí ẹ ṣe bá mi; Tinubu has to go all out and wipe this people off yoruba land, anything less he is a coward and way worse than Jonathan, nobody should compare Tinubu to Obasanjo, cos based on current workings he is far far off. |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 4:26pm On May 21 |
Olowunl01:The reality on ground is what we are dealing with, Between 2014 and 2022 is 8yrs where security got worse overall and expanded from the subregion and filtered into the country, When we were growing up, we had kidnappers for ransom but you hardly hear mass kidnap at schools, you didn't have people blowing themselves up to kill others, we didn't have religious based terror, Now its a daily reality, University students are going to school without the usual strikes, this is probably the 3yrs with the least amount of strikes since I have been an adult. Roads and bridges at this rate, we didnt, Even Jonathan couldnt complete the 2nd Niger bridge, You want Tinubu to wipe out these people, Good, But how do you recognize them? How do you know the Abdul selling cows that you grew up with and played ball with is not one of them, So how do you wipe an ideology out |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:28pm On May 21 |
raumdeuter:Since when he decamped to APC till now, he couldn't grow any alliance at all? Even amongst the Ijaw and Ogoni? Even amongst other APC state governors? Well, he will be remembered like Celestine Omehia |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 4:28pm On May 21 |
raumdeuter:So Tinubu didn't know all these before he entered? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Olowunl01: 4:36pm On May 21 |
raumdeuter:Let them first cancel that nonsense amnesty and rehabilitation of terroist, then recruit more people into police & army, we have lots of young people without gainful employment, let Tinubu fulfill his campaign promise of recruiting more people, if a recruitment drive for new recruits will starting pay of N300K per month thousand of young people will join probably total cost of N500B for 100K people with adequate training we get more value then the amount spent on those at the NASS. Solutions plenty but lack of political will to do the right thing has always been our problem. |
