Badagry Port This is my Aug 04, 2016 post This project is part of a much larger project known as the Badagry Energy City project. It will include one or two refineries (the Oando refinery and probably Captain Iheanacho's refinery). The government is not spending a kobo on the project (except for the land that will be provided by the Lagos State Government). It will be funded by the private sector. The Energy City will be divided into three zones. 1. A tourist and leisure zone which will include a film city. 1. The energy zone which will include a refinery, port, power station and facilities for oil companies and other industries. 1. A residential zone. |

Ibom Port I hope they have resolved the dispute. This is my Jan 23, 2023 post. Anytime that someone mentions the Lekki Deep Sea Port, someone will mention the Ibom Port and claim that the government or some unnamed people are "frustrating it". They don't name the people, but you have an idea of who they are referring to. Those people do not know what they are talking about. The problem with Ibom Port reminds me of the issues that stalled the Olokola Free Trade Zone in Ogun and Ondo States. The new port in Akwa Ibom State was originally called the Ibaka Port and it was meant to have been sited at Ibaka Bay. However, the location was changed in 2014 and it was renamed Ibom Port. See here: https://www.nairaland.com/2051694/controversial-ibaka-seaport-relocated-renamed The community in the original location (Ibaka) then sued the Akwa Ibom State Government and everybody involved in the project in order to stop the relocation. No work can be done on the site due to the lawsuit. See here: http://nationalnewstrack.com/ibaka-deep-seaport-court-grants-oro-nation-leave-for-judicial-review/ And that's actually what is delaying construction of the Ibom Port. China Harbour Engineering Company, the company responsible for both the Lekki Port (remember that I told you that Governor Tinubu went to China and Singaport to seek for investors in the Lekki Free Zone in the year 2000) and the Ibom Port says that it is still interested in the project, but it can't do anything now due to the lawsuit. |

Olokola Port These were my posts from September 6th, 2024. The Ondo and Ogun state governments had partnered to set up a free trade zone. It was to be in the Olokola area, on the border between the two states. The free trade zone was to have a deep sea port, a liquified natural gas plant (OKLNG), a refinery and various other industries. After Bluestar Consortium lost ownership of the Port-Harcourt and Kaduna refineries, Aliko Dangote decided to partner with the Ondo and Ogun state governments and build his refinery in the Olokola Free Trade Zone. It was to be the biggest refinery in Nigeria. koruji:There were also problems with the Dangote Refinery in Olokola. The people of Olokola and Igbokoda demanded a lot from Dangote. The name Dangote evoked visions of wealth and so they made a lot of demands from him. These demands put Dangote off. It was at this time that Governor Fashola of Lagos went to poach Dangote and convinced him to build the refinery in Lekki. Why Dangote Relocates Refinery From Ondo State To Lagoshttps://www.societyreelnews.com/dangote-relocates-refinery-to-lagos/ How ODSG lost $`9bn Dangote’s Refineryhttps://thetracenewsmagazine./2015/06/01/how-odsg-lost-9bn-dangotes-refinery/ Dangote has since returned to the project. He has vowed to build the biggest port in Africa at Olokola and to build an LNG facility there. He has been very close to Governor Dapo Abiodun and to the APC governorship candidate Yayi Adeola and they have all vowed to execute the project. |

Lagos is overburdened already, adding more seaport to Lagos is not helping the state but killing it. They should focus on building excellent cargo rail from existing Lagos seaports to states like: Kano Anambra (Onitsha) Kogi Adamawa It will reduce the burden of loads on Lagos roads which causes traffic congestion and fast road wear. But with cargo railways from Lagos ports to other commercial states, movement of cargo containers will be swift and the loads on Lagos roads will be reduced, traffic will also drop. |

franchasng:You didn’t read thru.. The government is not spending a kobo on the project (except for the land that will be provided by the Lagos State Government). It will be funded by the private sector. It’s a private investments. You can’t tell private investors on how and where to put their money at.. |

PulaPower:That wasn't what he originally wanted to post. He wanted to wail about why there is none for the SE, but decided let him test the waters first by insinuating the projects are a waste of govt funds. Those things are predictable. |
| Re: FG Approves 5 Deep Sea Ports (List) by Owombakara: 8:20am On May 23 |
naptu2:This is really insightful. So there's been a lawsuit withholding the progress of this port all this while. It's such a shame that the progress that would have been made was stalled by a name change. Why change the name in the first place? Looking at the other 4 proposed ports you can easily see they are named after the community they're located. But a mischievous person decided to rename the Akwa Ibom port and look at what it has caused. Thanks for sharing this Oga Naptu2, you doing a yoeman's job!!! |

PulaPower:So if a private investor wants to build a solar panel n battery factory in tvc headquarters cos that's the only location that suits their factory, will the govt allow them and approve it since u can't regulate an investor on what he has to do with his funds... |

| Re: FG Approves 5 Deep Sea Ports (List) by GeneralOuki: 8:29am On May 23 |
PulaPower:You didn't read his comments either. No where did he say that government was funding the project, and so his point still stands. Building more ports in Lagos— whether private or government— is just overburdening the state which is already too congested. |

WHICH FIVE DEEP SEAPORT? ALL I SEE HERE IS SOMETHING FOR 2027 CAMPAIGN . EXCEPT LAGOS SEAPORT COME BACK HERE AFTER 2031 AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE REST OF THE FOUR SEAPORT EXCEPT BADAGRI WILL STILL BE ON PAPER. NEVER YOU TRUST ANY NIGERIA POLITICIAN BASE ON PROMISE ESPECIALLY WHEN ANOTHER ELECTION IS AROUND THE CORNER. THEY ARE USING IT TO GET YOUR VOTE |

poiZon:Stop making a dumb comment here; the guy you quoted was right. Some of you have never done anything reasonable in life. Before a private player decides the location to invest money, they do a feasibility study first. The outcome of the study will determine whether they should pursue it or not. You think making money is easy and someone will invest their hard-earned money in a business or place where they cannot regain it or make profits later. |

TokoEkambi:You people are so soaked in tribalism that you can't see anything other than from a tribal lens. His suggestion will actually improve the country's economy by 3 folds and improve the lives of the people by bringing down inflation a little bit, but tribalism no go allow you people to see sense in it. |

There have been developments since I made that post in 2016. One of the companies that is associated with the Badagry Energy City project is currently working with the Federal Government to build the Sokoto - Badagry Highway. |

A funny dude is trying to spin things. He still does not understand a simple point. You cannot dictate to private firms where they will invest their money. They will invest where they believe that they will get good returns. This is simple common sense. |
