“We sleep outside and barely eat, yet I will stand by my husband” — Lady says

A woman has moved many social media users after sharing her struggle with homelessness and poverty while insisting she would never abandon her husband despite their difficult condition.

The lady narrated how she and her husband reportedly travelled a long distance to Abuja in search of a better life but have been homeless since January.

According to her, the couple now sleep outside and often struggle to find food, yet she remains committed to staying with her husband because of the love and bond they share.

Woman says family abandoned her over marriage
Speaking emotionally, the woman explained that some members of her family turned against her because she refused to leave her husband for another man despite their financial hardship.

“I cannot leave my husband for any reason. Because of him, all my family members abandoned me. We’ve been homeless since January and we sleep outside, but I’ll never leave my husband. We barely see food to eat and people laugh at us as if we are nothing.”

The woman further revealed that her grandmother chased her out of the house after she refused pressure to marry someone else.

She added that her husband was financially stable before she became pregnant for him, but circumstances later changed.

“He was not this poor when I got pregnant for him, but regardless, I have decided to stay with him. We’ve been praying and I know God will come through for us,” she added.

The touching story has since generated reactions online, with many Nigerians praising her loyalty while others called for support for the struggling couple.

I have a friend that depends 100% on electricity to run his business. About a month ago their transformer developed fault, so since last month he has not been running his business.

Just last Friday his wife called me saying I should tell my friend he should go and look for a job, that this is not what she signed up for in that marriage.

The husband is very irresponsible, how do one employed as a driver, travel to his village for his father's burial and spent 3 months there, returning back and not expect his boss to have hired another driver?🙄

Just focus on your hustle. The lady can try washing clothes or cleaning for households. The woman that used to sweep our house swept 3 houses on the street. She comes early, sweeps and by 9am latest, she is done with all three.


There are many little things they can both do to get by.

My kind of a wife. Though, I am not poor and can never be! She has really come through for me through thick and thin. Make I still remind una, she's a single mother I remarried almost 3 yrs now. She's so loyal and a good wife. As most of una don bastardized single women for here, I don't know how lucky I am to find such a very good single mum in my wife. Na God do am for me sha.
