Freshtruth:Do you know how long it took for the invention of electricity to happen? Between when man first observed static electricity to when electricity (as we know it) was invented? It took almost 3000 years for that transition to happen. Science is not a sudden miracle thing. It takes years and even millennials between observations and inventions. As for HIV, scientists have made great strides since when the viral infection was documented in the 1980s. But viral infections are hard to cure because they are technically not living things that you can directly attack and kill. HIV hijack cells, mess with the cell's DNA and turn the cell into a sort of zombie. So, instead of the cell to carry out its biological functions, it will be carrying out the orders of the virus. It will be making more viruses and eventually burst open with newly produced viruses which would then go on to infect other cells in the body. Because HIV does not have cell walls or its own properties or machineries, you can't use antibiotics to fight it. Scientists discovered Antiretroviral therapy (ART) which helps to prevent the virus from spreading further. But the ART does not kill the virus since the virus is not technically a living organism. ART does a fantastic job of preventing the virus from hijacking other cells and replicating. If the virus cannot replicate itself, the viral loads drop as infected cells die. ART does not cure HIV because the HIV can rest or hide in the DNA of some cells for years. Because these viruses cannot replicate themselves, they lay dormant and even manage to hijack other cells and force them to replicate viral reservoirs. Scientists are currently researching ways to clear up these dormant cells because if an infected person stops receiving ART, the dormant cells will awaken and HIV will resume replication. |

Freshtruth:Some sickness and their cure are available, but only for the elites. Cancer is one of them. Hiv has cure, but they give you medicines to manage it, so as to make the pharmaceutical companies booming. |

As far as its in that region, don't risk your life with the hope that you've protected yourself o. They'll sell the original drug and replace it with the fakes ones they produce in their homes. |

Freshtruth:You must be an art student for you to say this. You don't understand anything about scientific research. You think it's easy? The mathematical problems that are yet to be solved, how many have you attempted to solve? |

I foresee a future where this drug (LENACAPAVIR) significantly reduces global HIV burden. Roll it out en masse so we can deal with HIV thoroughly and concentrate attentions on cancer. |
| Re: Anambra Launches Long-Acting Injectable For HIV Prevention by nairalanda1(m): 3:50pm On May 24 |
kodded: KIDfurniture:Medications like this do not just hit the street like this, they undergo phases of testing before they reach the general public...this particular drug went through phase 1-3 human testing, which took over ten years to complete. By now if there was health issues, they won't have given it to humans. (As an example, in 1999, there was a drug that was developed to treat dementia. It worked on animals, but when they did phase 1 testing for humans, many humans developed health issues. Drug was withdrawn with immediate alacrity. Did not even get to phase 3). Also it is not a vaccine. |
