Abia’s Debt Reduced By 60%, State Ranks Among Top In Fiscal Transparency - Otti by Metrix147(op): 10:07am On May 24
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has disclosed that his administration has reduced the state’s debt profile by about 60 percent within two years of assumption of office.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L323l63MRoA
Governor Otti made the revelation during the May edition of the monthly media interaction programme, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks To Abians,” while highlighting his administration’s achievements in fiscal management, transparency, and accountability.

According to the Governor, Abia State’s debt profile, which stood at about ₦191 billion in 2023, has been reduced to less than ₦50 billion by the end of 2025 through prudent financial management and disciplined governance.

Dr. Otti also noted that the state has continued to receive positive independent assessments in areas of fiscal sustainability, transparency, and accountability.

He cited the BudgIT State of States Report, which moved Abia State from the 17th position in 2023 to the 4th position in 2025 among states in Nigeria, describing the ranking as evidence of responsible governance and financial reforms under his administration.

“These are independent rankings, and they give you an idea of how the government is being run,” the Governor stated.

Governor Otti further remarked that ongoing reforms and efforts to block financial leakages may naturally attract resistance from individuals who previously benefited from what he described as “primitive accumulation.”

“You also expect a lot of pushback from people who depended on primitive accumulation and cut off. So sometimes when you see people complaining and pouring libation, it is probably because the amounts have been removed from the feeding bottle,” he added.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining fiscal discipline, prudent management of public resources, and transparent governance aimed at improving the welfare of Abians and repositioning the state economically.

I think it’s Nlfpmod.
Now to the topic, this Otti man is indeed working.
He should continue the good work even beyond his second term in office.

Everyone can see he is working hard and executing verifiable projects that are uplifting the living conditions of his people.

If you have a leader who is bold enough to organise press conferences, it's a plus. This is a leadership culture that APC brigands totally destroyed.now.

When PDP was leading this country, their presidents were regularly having press conferences and OBJ started it. Everyday Nigerians were calling in and asking OBJ questions. APC totally destroyed this country.

Yarimo will hug transformer today, there a reason nobody is coming out to contest governorship election in Abia state. Everyother contestant knows people like Yarimo wants to eat their hard looted money.

God bless Dr Alex Oti....

I just remembered how Alex Oti was attacked, criticized and blackmailed by the ruling party in Abia state before 2023 election, just like they are attacking Peter Obi today.

We greatly thank God that we never listened to those political criminals who came to steal, to kill and to destroy.

Abia is moving forward and No Gate's of Hell will stand against us.

God bless Dr Alex Oti

God bless Abia state.

Budget doesn't mean money, so nobody should be celebrating budgets.

Besides, the comment you quoted didn't mention any of those names. It's entirely on a different topic.

Can u compare the value of this #1t now with the #150b during Obi's time? Only dummies will be celebrating a man that plunged nigeria into the highest debt burden in nigeria's entire history.

If a president cannot emulate otti, then he must be voted out!

Otti is running unchallenged.
People are not oblivious to good governance
All Nigerians are now fully involved in politics
Otti will rule this country for 100 years

huh

This are the type of presidential material Nigerians should be begging to rule them for 50years, not the present one, who are only there to milk the country dry and take power by force

Shut up abeg, is Kwara state not receiving the same money from Tinubu?

Why are we not hearing anything good from Kwara, except Bandits camps and flogging of Obas?

I don't know why it is so difficult for most of you to celebrate people who are doing great jobs.

This is why negativity is following most of you to your respective homes.

🥺🥺🥺

Obi effect is evident in Abia's good governance. You cannot genuinely connect with Obi and not put the people first. By the time Otti is done, Abia state will be reference point on good governance all over Nigeria.

How has he given governance a human face without verifiable data on improvements in free education for all children, water supply as well as other basic services and utilities huh

Are Abia people also drinking water from shitty boreholes?

InvertedHammer:
/
It is by far better than Enugu.

500 gallons of water go for N20k. Multiply by 4 in a month, that's N80k. By extrapolation, that's N960k in a year on water alone. Why? Because the governor believes that clean and accessible water is the least of his worries. Yet they prance around like Enugu is Abuja even though the red muddy soil will have residents looking like they went tomb-raiding at night.

But then, considering where it was before Peter Mba, one can understand the accolades being that he moved the town from 16th Century to 17th Century but not anywhere near 20th Century. 21st Century is a stretch. EEDC? The worst of all.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mahmood Adegbite, has said that people drilling borehole in the Lekki axis of the state is probably drinking ‘’shit water.”

While speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the state recently, Adegbite noted that contaminated boreholes in Lekki pose health risk and added that treatment of waste water would eradicate any form of disease that may arise from it.

He said, “On waste water treatment, I will say that everyone digging borehole within the Lekki axis is probably drinking what I will call ‘shit water.’
