So if he had 1m in any of his accounts, what would he have done? With 0.04 in his dollar account and others with less than 5 naira, where’s the evidence that he has money anywhere else?

No, that's not something you should ignore. Since you're sure the money was sent to you and you have documents to prove it, go to FCCPC. Of course, you can also write to CBN and NDIC, but FCCPC might be faster.

When I had a problem of wrongful deductions with First Bank, I only threatened to write to CBN and NDIC, and the deductions were reversed.

How is this on the front page?
Following the Opay thread with this GTB thread and all moved to the front page is suspect.
I just wonder what Seun and Nairaland are up to?

GTB has a reputation to be a bank of integrity, and I used to believe that they are. However, recent issues have made me seriously question their honesty as a bank.

This issue is so long and disheartening, but I am giving them some grace before I expose them. I am sure they will read this and be alarmed.

So let me wait a while before I relate my encounter with their branch at Ojodu.

The most annoying and criminal for me is loading recharge card from bank.
One can just load any amount with a simple code and with other verification. This doesn't make sense at all.

Once post pass one comment box, lie definitely enter.

GTBank is one of the worst banks, if not the worst bank in this country. With its so-called architectural masterpiece buildings that appear beautiful outwards, they are like whitewashed tombs full of dead men's bones. Beatiful on the outside. Rotten on the inside.

After clearing the negative balances in two of my accounts, I left 444 in my first savings account for them to nil off whatever else I may be owing (according to them), including the 0.04 dollars. Yet, they charged me SMS charges for January 2026 for my second savings account that I have not used in over two years.

GTB, I may be insignificant, but I pray the authorities see this and investigate.

This kind of fellow, if you owe him a dime, know that you will never have peace. He will call OPC, soldiers, police, VIO, agberos, just to get his money. He will take your name to native doctors, Pastors and Alfas.

Imagine 0.04 in the domiciliary account and he’s publicly displaying that shamelessly and seeking help.

Dear All,

GTCO organises its Food & Drink Fair and GTCO Fashion Weekend annually. To promote these events, they regularly send out marketing emails to all their customers. The last Food & Drink Fair, I unsubscribed from their marketing emails by clicking on the link to unsubscribe, but I kept on receiving them daily. Tired of this, I sent a mail to GT Support requesting to be unsubscribed, and they assured me that my request will be treated within 48 hours. After two working days, I got no response. So I thought maybe they just deliberately ignored my request in order to continue to advertise their Food & Drink Fair. I let that go (even though I did not like it.)

Secondly, the GTCO Fashion Weekend, which is even more troubling, promotes indecency and moral decadence amongst ladies. And sometimes, I see their ATM wallpaper advert when I try to withdraw cash, containing a scantlily dressed woman, which I do not like.

So I wrote to them raising my concerns and asked them to address these issues, but they said their Fashion Weekend is to promote the work of local and international designers. I then decided that rather than try to dissuade them from their practices, it is better I close my accounts with them.

And they should keep accumulating sms, sd charges on the accounts on his behalf abi he said 2 years dormant account has over 200 naira sms charges already but what you advised is what i actually do with most of my account except the day i closed my Fidelity Bank account which i had left dormant for unexplainable charges on my account but after i discovered that Peter Obi is the chairman of the bank, the unexplainable charges became clear to me, Fidelity Bank is owned by a hypocrite gbague lie lie man so i decided to go and close it for real....they did all these tricks plus treaths and bullying but i came well prepared, me sef na werey wey dey wear cloth and sleep for house i no really send anybody papa since i realized we are all dust at best; I told the manage point blank that i wanted a reason to sue them for millions so he should indulge please and please i beg him with whichever God he worships and to bust his brain i played a small portion of audio and video recording of our interraction and that i just posted it to several google drives they close my account and gave me my balnce and it was remaining N7.50k I still insisted on collecting those too brushing aside their protest that they don't have coins...if i hear say bank no get coins make i bend

The guy stingy ajeh, my mouth dey open reading his senseless rambling, i seriously have no idea what he's complaining about.

I honestly do not see any serious issue here since the total debit balance is not up to ₦1,000.00. You can simply credit one of the accounts with ₦900.00 or ₦1,000.00 and then write to them, instructing them to debit that account and use the funds to clear all the accounts currently in debit. After that, request that they close ALL the accounts and send you confirmation once the closures have been completed. Alternatively, if you do not wish to go through that process, you can simply ignore their emails by redirecting them to your Spam or Trash folder so you no longer have to see them.

Don't you think you are trying to get unnecessary attention?

To close account do you really need to go bank with endless letters and request?

Simply withdraw your all your money and stop using the account.

My experience with GTBank is not so different from the OP. When I discovered GTB was taking about N50 from every transaction, both incoming and outgoing (all other bank I use only charge for outgoing transactions), and some other funny charges. I decided to withdraw all the money in the account and left it domant. After about 3 months the account had accrued some -N3,000+ with no single transaction done since I left it domant.

I had left my Zenith bank account domant for over a year and Zenith rather added some few naira into the account. So why is GTBanks's own different when they are both savings account?

I think I forgot to mentioned in the post that this was way back in 2023 or there about. That's before all the new stamp duty and tax introduction here and there.

I don't bank with only GTB, so I am comparing my experience with the experience I have with other banks

Zenith Bank is the best. They give me peace of mind. Every customer is important, no discrimination.
