LOL. Why do you guys subscribe to their sms alerts. Wetin do email?

I noticed that they use that as a ploy to extort customers, because you won't be able to easily track the deductions.

I've seen this before. The Op is clearly lonely. For him to take out the time to do all this shows a great level of loneliness. Think about this: he woke up in the morning bright and early to beat the Lagos traffic, brushed his teeth, took his bath, had breakfast, chased down a bus, went to the bank; and then complained he wanted to close his accounts because of gtco fashion dey promote indecent dressing. Mad ooo

You need to refocus your life. You have no valid complaints.

Ordeal?

Hahahahahahahaha!
How dare you?? Every customer has a right to what they consider decent, offensive and disturbing. And if a customer feels an advert tailored to him/her is below the his or her moral threshold, then he or she has a right to make a complaint.

You're terrible and the world would be a better place where warped minds as yours are re-educated.

I logged in because of this thread.

The once-loved GTBank is gradually becoming something else entirely.

When I noticed unexplained negative balances — sometimes reaching as much as ₦3,000 — I decided to stop actively using the account.

What I still don’t understand is: how can a bank continue charging monthly fees on an account I practically stopped using?

These days, the only reason I still use GTBank is to receive money from people who don’t have my other account details. But the moment any money enters the account, the bank immediately deducts the negative balance for charges I know nothing about.

Honestly, this is disturbing and can easily be viewed as unfair or exploitative by customers.

GTB is the most dubious bank currently in the country. They have too many ways of deduction from customers account on daily basis. May woe betide them for their unscrupulous unethical banking system. I'm currently devising way of closing my bank accounts with them

Dear all,

GTB has a reputation to be a bank of integrity, and I used to believe that they are. However, recent issues have made me seriously question their honesty as a bank.

This issue is so long and disheartening, but I am giving them some grace before I expose them. I am sure they will read this and be alarmed.

So let me wait a while before I relate my encounter with their branch at Ojodu.

You have every right for what you are pushing for. Go ahead. God be with you.

If you don't want to use their bank again why not just forget the account and it will automatically go dormant instead of all this plenty talk
It's not necessarily about letting it go dormant. It's about exposing their fraudulent acts for the benefit of others because many seem to trust them blindly. Besides, if it is dormant, something might tempt you to go back and reactivate it.

You should have created a scene at the Bank, that's the only way they would have taken you seriously. In 2016 I had some issues with GTbank that stressed me greatly for 1 whole month and I was able to get it resolved by creating a scene and demanding to see the manager.
UIt's a decade now since I stopped banking with them.
I have twice done that in the past, and I was arrested by the Police. Despite forgiving them, they never listened to my plea. Even the hardware token they discontinued, which has better security than the soft token and *737*7#, I mentioned it to them that they should have not discontinued the hardware token but made it optional for those without smartphones, but my complaints went unanswered.

Have you heard of hefty penalties paid by Google, Meta, Amazon because of covert and underhanded practices?

You should read up on them.

GTB will fall soon.

A bank with which integrity?

A bank that created an account for me without my request, which has gone ahead to send me the account number and asked me to found the account. After several requests for them to deactivate the account to no avail, I let the matter slide for now, I will definitely take it up, when I am financially ready.

I've abandon mine for years, but it start accruing several unreasonable charges. Now the account is negative #2574. Meaning I'm owing them. I don't think anyone would want that in such circumstances.

Also if you abandon it without closing it, people that already the account can mistakenly pay into it. How many people do you want to tell that you no longer use the account?

If you don't want anything to do with a bank again, the best bet is to close the account completely.

I think I agree with you. He probably was one of those who supported baba in 2023 and ended up crying ebi n pawa.

So if he had 1m in any of his accounts, what would he have done? With 0.04 in his dollar account and others with less than 5 naira, where’s the evidence that he has money anywhere else?

Na lack of money worry the guy. Hunger has showed his the other side of life.

He should have dared to create the scene in the bank.
what the whole issue is all about is what i do not even understand. where's the fraud and dishonesty? his issue has nothing to do with banking services the bank offers, it is food and drink programme they organise and fashow show they organise to promote local enterpreneurs. they send you the mail, u ignore or u delete it naa.
i dont even understand what will cause the creating of scene
