If you allow him to sleep, others will take a cue from that and start sleeping when they feel like, wake him up to learn something. Am sure that how some politicians slept in class , that’s why Nigeria is what it is today

➜And he could also just fall asleep...No matter how well rested!
Do you even understand what the term "well-rested" means? 😒

But there is a saying by teachers: "Let the sleeping dog lie." huh
the problem here is that the one sleeping isn't a dog but a pupil. Should we still allow him sleep?

Allowed him...you wont get the best from him if you disturb his sleep

If it is first time then allow him to get that needed rest. But if it is not wake him up before it becomes a habit.

Let him sleep. It's part of the learning process.
It's not. School hours are for class, not for sleeping. Wake him up and have a talk with his parents on the need to allow him get enough sleep at night.

Haba, don't be this wicked. If you wake him up from such a deep sleep in this weather, do you think you can get his attention?

Only teachers who teach kids and toddlers will understand. It's not as easy as you think.
Nahhh I'm not being wicked here.
They're rules when it comes to learning. While it's not bad to nap, but from the picture above there's a teacher around and obviously it means activities are going on.
You don't nap when activities as going on.
That's just my take in it

Nap during school activities is not something you should praise. Naps have their own time.

Academically serious-minded parents would frown at not waking him up.

This is what I posted as reply that got me banned...

I don't know if I stole a mods wife here cos my comments seems restricted.

The more I complain and draw seun 's attention to this the worse it becomes?

15 minutes only? I am sorry, but that isn't a well-rested mind. That may be someone who assumed that since he slept the day before, he must be well-rested, but by no means does that describe a well-rested mind. 😒

Oh, I can relate! Having a sleep disorder doesn't mean I don't know what sleep is, its importance, and so on. For me, well-rested a day of about 8-hours of uninterrupted sleep is a day without even a thought regarding sleep crossing my mind for at least 3-5 hours of the day, no matter how bored I may be. So, you can only imagine how much better that could be for those who have none of the struggle I have. 😒

Maybe well-rested is not the right term for me to use here.

I deliberately rested the evening before the journey...

Slept early enough, relaxed, cutting out other activities... only to start snoozing 15mins into the drive.

If that wasn't well rested enough then I don't know what else is!

1. So, you think the implication is that it is as determined by you(not by your brain's actual need)? That's not entirely how it works. 😒

2. But it ain't! What you described is like a man who deprived himself of sleep for 3 days straight, concluding after a night of about 12 hours of sleep that he is well-rested. 😒

Well I didn't deprive myself of 3 days straight sleep...

Just my normal activities. Then came back home and deliberately rested because of the journey I had the next day.

I was bored driving alone... fell asleep. Not out of tiredness but boredom!

Mid day sleep is mandatory in china for primary and nursery students

Yes. Boredom can absolutely make someone feel sleepy or even fall asleep.
When your brain is understimulated — like during a very repetitive lecture, long meeting, or quiet environment — your alertness can drop. The brain reduces arousal because there is little novelty or engagement, and that can trigger drowsiness.
That is why some people struggle to stay awake in class, during long sermons, or while reading something uninteresting, even if they are not “lazy” or intentionally disrespectful.
But boredom is usually a trigger, not the only cause.

I already said that my situation and experience, decades of it, lead me to believe differently from AI in this. 😒

I will give you an example. I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night. I have been awake for many hours, sitting in a dark, quiet room, brain tired, seriously bored, and wanting to sleep, and I have yet to fall asleep. It is a holiday today, and I have no real stress keeping me awake; still, no sleep! I am frustrated and listless a lot of the time, but no sleep to be found. Obviously, boredom isn't the only recipe for sleep, if at all. 😒
