I suspect it can. If not in south, it should in north because of their arid regions. Isreal and ME is arid. |

Mariangeles:Will definitely grow…. But Nigerian soil content and the environment cannot guarantee that what will come out will look exactly like the picture or even taste like it …. Have u tried planting apple in Nigeria?? The outcome is one of nature’s hilarious moves |

advanceDNA:Okay. So, the type/quality of the soil determines the taste of the fruit? Thankfully, I'm not a fan of apples. ![]() I can totally do without them. CodeTemplar:I agree. At least, we could still get to taste them. |

advanceDNA:Apples grow normally in Plateau state. |
| Re: Can Figs Grow In Nigeria? (picture) by dominique(mod): 6:18am On May 26 |
Mariangeles:These facts are enough for Nigerian farmers not to go into cultivating the crops. A fruit that can only ripen on the tree and spoils within 3 days of harvest. Very risky investment |

Yes. I've seen it grow here and have also eaten it in the East. The one I saw and ate is green coloured figs. Modified: What I ate was actually vine not fig. I had to check again to be sure. |

There are figs in Nigeria ever since. Only I may not know what specific species you are talking about. Wild/African figs ("ákpūr" in part of Igbo land) are in many places in my area. See pictures below. And they're edible

| Re: Can Figs Grow In Nigeria? (picture) by Reference(m): 7:24am On May 26 |
Mariangeles:I see no reason why not. But south if the country, I doubt it be cause judging by where it is popular. The Mediterranean areas and parts of the Mid east I guess it requires plenty of sun, not too much precipitation and a range of temperatures between cold and heat. These characteristics are found in the middle belt at higher elevations, places such as Plateau and Adamawa should be the choice locations. |
