Dangote can reduce fuel price to 1k and still remain the richest man in Africa .
How does Dangote reducing petrol price to ₦1,00 0 relates to his networth?

My question has always been why Dangote is afraid of competition, his refinery is in Nigeria and he's still afraid of competition from fuel importers. This gives me the belief that his products are more expensive than imported ones. If his excuse is that imported products are of inferior quality, have we not been using imported fuel before the coming on board of his refinery? Why is Dangote afraid of competition, if his products are prized competitively, no one will dare want to import fuel
Petrol price is determined by global oil prices and not the imaginary competition they scammed you in school

Now l understand
So Dangote is Monopolizing the marking all these while .
Competition is healthy in business.

Which means if the new vesel didn't arrive Dangote would still be selling it on high price..
That's pure wickedness

You could have been more truthful by saying crude oil prices dropped and that made the price of AGO drop but because there must be an agenda, you had to include imported cargo. Haven't these people been receiving cargoes before? Are their prices not even higher than MRS? Just say crude oil prices dropped and then the drop.
Nigerian medias, politicians, religious leaders, activists know how to leverage on the ignorance of the populace to get attention, support, attract traffic to there digital platforms and cash out massively.

Evil is when you expect petrol to remain stagnant when oil price is increasing and petrol subsidy has been removed

The better we understand the dynamics of the downstream sector to the better for us. I'm not a in support of monopoly or dangote but one question that should be ask is this, what about the other refineries in the country why are they not producing.

We have 4 NNPCL refineries that's not working and also other modular refineries in the country what are they doing about productions.

Importers are not interested in flooding the market with fuel or diesel ⛽ because they know Dangote alone can meet the market demand. They are only interested in cashing out in the Dollars that they would have access to so as to sale to BUREAU D CHANGE

Dangote is the weapon fashioned against us.. So once the importers exhaust their products, he'll increase the price again. It's well sad
Dangote is playing dirty game here, by that action he has killed the competitors, cos the gantry price is below the cost price to the importers. And by so doing he'll drive the importers out of the market, so that he can enjoy being a monopoly.

Monopoly shouldn't be allowed in the oil sector
common sense is now very scarce on Nairaland.please what is the meaning of Deregulation?is it not allowing market forces to determine prices and ultimately price reduction due to competition?

I don't want to believe that Dangote want to monopolise the market like he did in cement, flour and other products for many years.

Dangote is just a coward who abhors competitors and competition. He tells us he has to sell his Petroleum products based on international pricing but he doesn't want others to import products same internationally. What kind of wicked and foolish talk is this. Non of his businesses ever trived without some form of monopoly.

Check out his other business in typically competitive sectors and how they collapsed: Dansa Juice and Water, Dangote Telecoms, Dangote Textiles, Dangote Tomatoo, Dangote Noodles, Dangote Airlines etc etc.

That's why Yar"Adua never really like him and his business approach. FG must allow the market to fully regulate itself since all the pricing by Dangote is based on international market dynamics, let's other source products internationally too for us.

All we need do is to ensure standards are met

Monopoly gives room for exploitation.

If that's the case, I wish FG grant import licences to marketers for the importation of petroleum products, Fuel price will reduce automatically

.. importation of petroleum products depreciates, weakens and devalues the naira...how do you expect the naira to appreciate and have value with too much of importation... Nigeria at this stage should be producing petroleum products and exporting inorder to generate more foreign currencies inorder to appreciate and strengthen the naira against the dollars... that is why government and other private refineries should work so that they can compete with dangote refinery and petroleum products will be cheap and naira will also have value and appreciate as we are exporting the petroleum products

Dangote is interested only in himself and his empire. He is willing and ready to crush any small competitors it doesn't matter whether Nigerians cry or not.
Re: Dangote Refinery Cuts Diesel Price By N200/litre As Importers Receive New Cargos by Breaker001: 9:54am On May 28
Dangote knows how to take advantage of Nigeria's inefficiency. Imagine what Nigerians would go through if Dangote has the monopoly he seriously craves for.
If the welfare of Nigerians is paramount to the Federal government, then they must create policies that will boost serious competitiveness in the petroleum sector, and save us from "draculas" posing as entrepreneurs. 😎

I quite agree with you, but without competition we'll still be at the mercy of Dangote on when prices should shift downwards when price of crude fall in the international market. With competition, consumers can still get marginal reduction on fuel prices

Dangote is not sincere. He is trying to take Nigerians for a ride and whipping up sentiments that importation licenses affect local production and trying to block them. Meanwhile he wants to be fleecing us all with higher prices.

The Goverment should allow importation. If Dangote is serious, his prices should be the one discouraging importation and not Government policy.
