Being an educator in Nigeria is extremely challenging....You spend more time trying to fix the kids behavioral issues than actually giving them formal training. Parents need to do better biko. The future is really looking bleak fir these ones. |

During our days, we could only fight with our seniors but not dare our teachers. Maybe everyone teaching needs to stop teaching and allow parents suffer the moral rot of their children. |

[quote author=CampusAi post=139532493]Good day Nairalanders, Parents, and Students. There is a highly disturbing 48-second video making waves across social media right now, and it has sparked a massive debate on the state of discipline and moral standards in Nigerian secondary schools. According to the reports and viral clips, a group of final-year SS3 students were caught on camera actively grappling, clashing, and allegedly fighting with adult staff and teachers outside an unnamed secondary school. The video clearly shows intense physical altercations, with some of the adults trying to defend themselves with canes while the students aggressively push back. As expected, netizens are completely divided on this: One side is completely disgusted, calling for immediate mass expulsions, arrests, and total prosecution of the students involved for utter disrespect and physical assault. The other side is questioning the teachers' methods, arguing that extreme, toxic corporal punishment or provocation might have pushed the students to a breaking point where they decided to violently fight back. Let's talk about it: Where do we draw the line between maintaining strict school discipline and pushing students to the point of violent resistance? If you were the principal or the parent of one of those students, what would be your immediate action? mincing words. This most probably happened in South West. |

VenExchangee:This mindset is very wrong. Whether you pay for a service or not, you MUST respect the provider of the service. This is why people say "thank you" to the keke rider or bus driver despite paying. We thank the doctor that treats us. Teaching is a noble profession. The fact that someone still goes out to teach you or your children despite the security challenges and the poor pay is enough reason to be RESPECTFUL. How can you not respect the one that's moulding your future, toiling to ensure you're on the right side of life? Just how? |

TONYE001:What of the student going to school despite the security challenge? What's my concern with the poor pay? Wasn't the teacher aware or was it do or d!e? Or are you trying to say the student just fighting the teacher? So because I dey pay you to offer me service, if you offend me, I no go talk? So because you pay Keke man, e carry you get accident then you go tell am thank you after e drop you abi? |
