Normally cars like these go under $5,000 given the mileage and the damage but used cars in the US are stupendously expensive nowadays .

But given it's a wagon and not a truck , which no one wants and the damage and mileage, cars like these are destined for the scrap yard.

I won't pay more than 2 grand cash for this car .

Is nice car …. And the damage level is is repairable
The mileage is very low too

That is pushing 130,000km.

Don't buy this car. The mileage has been tampered with.
Check the inner bonnet, the engine has seen fire.
At 77k+ with that kind of engine is a red flag.
The 2012 i just got at 188k+ milleage is cleaner and neater than this.
Dealership in the US cannot be 100% trusted.

I bought an accidented 2024 Camry Sports for N9 million and spent about N7 Million fixing it. You'd never know the car had been involved in an accident before. You can always buy an accidented car and fix it as long as the engine and chassis were not affected by the accident.

You're making it seem like you won't get the very sound kind of same car for less this amount you spent. Even if it's a million naira less.

Two questions;
1. How much is it going for?
2. Has background checks been done on it to be sure it's not a stolen property?

If all this checks well, then it's good to fly.

You didn't even give enough info here.
What is the year of the car?
What type of place are you buying the car from? Private dealer or junk yard?
What type of title does it have? Does it have a salvage title?

Insurance companies in the US will salvage out cars when the damage amount reaches a certain amount in relation to what the car is worth. I think 75%.
You just have to make sure that there isn't any unknown damage that will be pricey.
Want to make sure the tire wasn't hit and there isn't any transmission issues.

A friend had an accident where the fender/front door was hit.
The insurance company salvaged the car and he bought it back from them and sent it to Naij and had it repaired.

He should just buy a car door from the scrap yard and ship with the car. For a Toyota suv with less than 80,000 mileage, it's a good buy.

if there are no airbags deployed then it's not had. just change the drivers door.

I have heard of guys that drove salvaged cars from the dump, in another city ,to a workshop in their city of residence for repairs. You only need to get a temporary license/registration for that. I am talking about Canada.

Check every well whether there was a damage to the engine from the side..of the fuse box case....most people buy car that had accident from the back of the car or just front bumper ...check the car very well to confirm the extent of damage

Can you share an estimate for shipping that car to naija, cost of clearance and overall landing cost...because you could spend a few thousand Dollars to buy and fix that car and it may cost another 55%-60% of the original cost to deliver door 2 door Again that car is 2016...are you sure it will pass custom clearance?

I thought roro(roll on roll off) means the car would simply be driven onto the ship.. while container would require lift

This car is still okay, you can fix the damage and use. Just pray no hidden issues

For a start I think he should go for a smaller car. Invest the rest of the money. Toyota products are good. He should not buy a V6 SUV for now. I don't know his financial capability for now.
