Isn't It Obvious The Opposition Are Behind This Insecurity? by Counterigbolies(op): 3:55pm On May 31
Good afternoon everyone

Lately I have been seeing different things in social media as regards kidnapping of people at oyo and how the people have reacted.

Let me tell you the reality on ground, the opposition fully knows well they have nothing to use to campaign against Tinubu so they decided to use insecurity to make him unpopular.

Observe those people shouting Tinubu must go, ask them what their candidate will do different and ask them their candidate manifesto? All they keep saying is let tinubu go first....🤪🤪😂😂

So after tinubu goes, what next?

Who are we picking next?

They go mute and confused.

Now ask them again, which of tinubu good policies will your candidate reverse?

They go mute for the second time

Will your candidate reverse nelfund?
Will he stop the coastal road?
Will he bring back subsidy?
Will he stop subsidizing hospital bills of dialysis patients?
Will he stop giving farmers agricultural loans?
Among others

When you ask them this question they have nothing to say than to resort to emotional blackmail, now they will start telling you the you will die before 2027, they will kidnap you before 2027.

Aside from all these emotional blackmail, please tell me what your candidate will do differently and his previous records of doing it.

Now to the issue of insecurity proper, if your car is having issues and you keep changing drivers, your will change a million drivers and the problem will still be there. Isn't it crystal clear now that Nigerian president aren't the problem but the loopholes in Nigeria security architecture?

Now let's look back a little to the time of Jonathan, all that was used to destroy his government was bring back our girls and it worked....now oppositions have mastered that act and they are now using it, the new formula opposition parties are using is now to extort our security lapses to make the president unpopular.

Without emotions, ask yourself the same position of chaos we are during the era of Jonathan that made us all shout Jonathan must leave is where we are today, Jonathan left but our problem still persist.

If Jonathan left and the problem is still there, what makes you all think when tinubu leaves the problem will leave?

Why can't we citizens demand for security reforms that will stop all these security loopholes because this same method is working and future oppositions are observing too.

For how long will we keep posting bring back our kids? Let's force the government to demand for state policing, forest guard, high tech surveillance cameras like sowore suggested, purging of security saboteurs in our force and asking for capital punishment for kidnappings.

Emotions and social media crying won't stop our problem if we don't use common sense and logic.

If we continue like this, we will keep shouting bring back our kids virtually every 4 years and ask yourself for how long will we keep doing this?

If you shouted at Jonathan then and shouting at tinubu now then you have to think twice.

This is exactly the same thing GEJ apologists were saying on this site back in 2013, and before then, that tinubu and buhari were behind the crisis in nigeria, with some even saying that the Chibok girls thing was arranged by Buhari and his cohorts in Boko haram

It was partly because of such comments that GEJ was demarketed among many Nigerians. When government supporters are defending government incompetence by saying that the oppositon caused the crisis in nigeria, it shows that the government is too powerless to do anything.

This is what OP is doing now. He is excusing government incompetence by saying that the opposition is causing the problem. If you ask him now why tinubu who controls the army, police, DSS, and NIA why he cannot arrest these people, and charge them to court, he will say that there are so many of them that an arrest would destabilze the country.

(Ironically Buhari arrested MNK, Yaradua put Muhammad Yusuf to death, and the country did not break into a million pieces).

Oga, your post is not going to win more voters. And it is making your government look incompetent and weak to do anything, and making the purveryors of insecurity look like superpowered gods

Tell Mr Tinubu and Mr Shettima...that they need to LEAD US WELL...or get out in 2027.

Lame excuse.

Tinubu has over 100 billion naira security vote annually.

It is his duty to stop the opposition from sponsoring the insecurity.

If he cannot stop the opposition from sponsoring the insecurity he should get out of that place.

Tinubu once told Jonathan the buck stops at the table of the President,he should deal with it now he is there

so if Tinubu leaves instead of asking for strong security reforms, will that stop the kidnapping?

After Jonathan left, did the problem leave?

What is the assurance that if tinubu leaves like Jonathan, this won't repeat itself?

LOL...this shows that nigerians are very much alike.

When Jona was in power, his supporters blamed oppostion
When buhari was in power, his suppporters blamed Zionists, and the oppostion too
When tinubu is in power, his supporters blame opposition.

It is always their turn to eat., and anyone attempting to displace their chosen one from the eating must be blamed.

Because these oppositions don't every criticize the governors of the states that these killings occur neither do they criticize the security forces pledged with the duty of protecting the citizens

First, your submission is clearly drawn from the APC's baseless echo chamber and, ordinarily, would ordinarily not deserve further consideration. It is shambolic, incoherent, and asinine.

Let me ask a simple question: on the issue of insecurity, who is the President of Nigeria?. Who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces?. Who controls the security architecture of this country, and on whose desk does the buck ultimately stop?. Is it the opposition?.

Nobody is trying to run Tinubu out of office. In fact, Nigerians would gladly campaign for him if he had governed well and delivered on his promises. Unfortunately, he appears more interested in doing well for himself in a hurry, his family, and his associates than for the Nigerian people.

By the last count, more than 33,000 Nigerians have reportedly lost their lives to insecurity since Ahmed Tinubu assumed office. Yet, despite the daily reports of killings, kidnappings, terrorist attacks, and banditry, this administration continues to behave as though security is somebody else's responsibility.

The same applies to the economy. Nigerians are not experiencing economic prosperity; they are enduring economic hardship. Since the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira, transportation costs, food prices, rent, electricity tariffs, school fees, and the prices of basic household goods have skyrocketed. Ordinary Nigerians are not judging this government by economic theories or IMF talking points. They are judging it by their empty pockets, shrinking purchasing power, and declining standard of living.

The NELFUND programme you touted is a shambolic scam and a poor substitute for genuine educational support. Every previous administration subsidized education and healthcare to some degree. This government removed educational subsidies, allowed fees to increase dramatically, and then introduced NELFUND as though it were some revolutionary intervention. Nigerians are expected to celebrate loans after being stripped of affordable access to education.

Healthcare tells a similar story. Despite receiving only a tiny fraction of the national budget, healthcare remains in crisis. Thousands of Nigerian doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals continue to leave the country in search of better opportunities abroad. Hospitals are understaffed, facilities are deteriorating, and ordinary citizens increasingly find quality healthcare beyond their reach. Yet the government appears more interested in public relations than meaningful reforms.

And why are Nigerian farmers crying out in agony?. They can no longer safely cultivate their lands without the threat of terrorism, kidnapping, extortion, or death. Many are forced to pay levies to criminal groups simply to access their own farms. Then, after abandoning them to insecurity, the government compounds their suffering by importing the very food they are expected to produce, thereby undermining local production and making farming increasingly unprofitable.

Tinubu removed the petrol subsidy. Fine. Where is the money saved from that policy?. Nigerians were promised that subsidy savings would be redirected into infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social development. This is 2026, and Nigerians are still waiting for a transparent accounting of where those funds went.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has effectively been operating multiple budgets concurrently since 2024. Yet critical capital projects remain underfunded. Healthcare remains neglected. Education remains in crisis. Infrastructure remains inadequate. So again, where is the money?.

This administration has also borrowed at an astonishing rate. Working hand in glove with the APC-controlled National Assembly, Tinubu has accumulated enormous amounts of debt while Nigerians continue to ask the most basic question: what exactly has been achieved with these borrowings?.

The government promised that its economic reforms would attract foreign investment, create jobs, strengthen the private sector, and stimulate growth. Where are the results?. How many sustainable jobs has this administration created since taking office?. What measurable improvement has occurred in industrial productivity?. What major investments have translated into employment opportunities for ordinary Nigerians?.

And while we are discussing economic performance, what was Nigeria's GDP when Tinubu assumed office, and what is it today?. Beyond statistical rebasing exercises and technical adjustments, how has the average Nigerian's life improved?. Economic success is not measured by government presentations; it is measured by whether citizens can afford food, housing, education, healthcare, and transportation.

These are all legitimate questions that deserve answers.

The issue is not whether challenges existed before Tinubu took office. Every administration inherits problems. The real question is whether the promises made during the campaign have translated into measurable improvements in security, economic stability, job creation, poverty reduction, and the quality of life of ordinary Nigerians.

The man who shouted "Emi Lokan" is now President. Leadership comes with responsibility. Policy formulation and implementation are his duties. Success belongs to him when things go right, and failure belongs to him when things go wrong.

If this administration can find $150 million for a presidential aircraft, borrow billions of dollars, remove subsidies, and implement painful economic reforms, then nobody can credibly argue that it lacks the capacity to act. The question is whether that capacity has been deployed in the interest of the Nigerian people.

In my view, Tinubu has failed woefully in virtually every measurable aspect of governance. On security, the country remains unsafe. On the economy, citizens are poorer. On healthcare, the system continues to deteriorate. On education, access has become more difficult. On job creation, the results remain abysmal. On transparency, fundamental questions remain unanswered.

Ultimately, leadership is measured by outcomes, not slogans. Nigerians were promised renewed hope, greater prosperity, improved security, economic stability, and a better future. Three years into this administration, citizens are entitled to ask whether those promises have been fulfilled, even if halfway. Asking such questions is not opposition politics; it is democratic accountability.

The only person truly campaigning against Tinubu is Tinubu himself.

Finally, your man is unable to show workings as we say in local parlance, and your attempt to gaslight Nigerians has failed. Your diatribe is riddled with contradictions, unsupported assertions, and talking points that collapse under scrutiny.

Nairaland is not a gathering of Tinubu or APC yes-men and yes-women who can be manipulated by propaganda. If you wish to defend this administration, do so with facts, measurable outcomes, and verifiable evidence, not slogans, innuendos and outright lies.
