I came across a topic today on the front page that marked today as world tobacco day.

So I decided to draw up this thread for us to run minds together.

Do you have any personal experience with smoking or are you still smoking, let's discuss.

For me I have smoked for 5 years ( strictly cigarettes) and I can tell you, those five years were hell on Earth.

Is it the public embarrassment that comes with nicotine smell
Or the stigma that many women attach to it
The isolation it gives from friends and colleagues who don't smoke
The dark lips the heart pain and heartburn.

The Truth is that smokers always think they will stop until it's too late. There is no good thing that comes with smoking.

Please let's share our journeys to this addiction

It would be nice if someone shares the withdrawal syndromes that come with quiting as he or she experienced so those wanting to quit can be prepared.

I quit smoking about 6 months ago. Here’s what you will expect.

NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS
1. Loss of appetite
2. Loss of sleep
3. Loss of weight
4. Irritability
5. Depression
6. Inexplainable sadness
7. Strong urge to return to your vomit
8. Reduced libido
9. Triggered sickness (vomiting and weakness)
10. Loss of friends (if you were serious about quitting, you’ll cut off Friends who still indulge)
11. Lack of interest in anything
12. Joylesness (if there’s a word like that)
13. You become timid and withdrawn from social life.

If you successfully persevere through this withdrawal stage which may go on to last for several weeks (2 to 3 months) without relapsing, here’s what will happen to you.

THE BODY BEGINS TO REVERT TO FACTORY SETTINGS
Just as all injuries heal with time, the body also begins to heal itself and all factory settings become restored gradually.

1. Full appetite returns
2. Healthy sleeping habit is restored
3. You become a happy person again
4. Depression flies out the window
5. The sight and smell of the addiction begins to irritate you.
6. You make new friends
7. You become bold
8. You now have a clear mind and head
9. You begin to add weight and look healthy.
10. Broken relationships begin to mend as you now see your faults and where you went wrong.

IN SUMMARY,
Drug addiction is the only prison where the prisoners are given the key to their cells but yet refuse to set themselves free. Only very few eventually wake up from the illusion and escape the dungeon which held them captive for many years. I was lucky to be among those who recently escaped that prison. And if I could, you can too. Peace.

smoking na sure odd for lung cancer.na so when I go scan for appendix, one guy just conclude his own finish and left. na so the workers say how em wan tell that guy say his lungs don grow cancer.

Do you know how many chemical elements exists in a cigarette? Do that before you just single out nicotine and put all the blame on it 😆

BTW, The highest numbers of people with canncer in Nigeria are those who had never smoked nor drink.

Which women attach stigma to smoking?

On the contrary, it is the women that drive many young guys to start smoking because 8/10 girls prefers a guy who smokes than a guy who doesn't.

Women are generally attractive to guys the society see as "immoral".

The issue is most of the smokers want to die!

They no dey hear word!

Nicotine kills yes but not as much as excess Tobacco.

This for those smoking, my own question be say , wetin smoker the enjoy inside smoking.. this is what is controlling most of our youth on the street now .. they believe if you don't smoke as they do , you don't know what's up.. that's pathetic..

My dad had a friend diagnosed with lung cancer at about 60 years. Doctor told him he had 2 years to live. He continued smoking.

He died 12 years later.

Regardless, smoking is bad for your health and others

A doctor once told me it's better to smoke pure weed than cigarettes. He said nicotine content in cigarettes is the killer and is not pronounced in marijuana.
Anyways, I think its better to stop smoking all together

For a start, it isn't the nicotine that kills. If it does, there wouldn't be an alternative like nicotine gum for people trying to quit smoking but still desire the flavor.

I smoke both loud, cana etc omoh it’s by the grace and mercy of God that I am alive now. There was a day I almost slumped, I begged God eeh
I will relate to the vision I had that same day
I literally almost left my body!

You have not said anything new

You need to see the scary pictures on cigarette packs abroad, yet, folks spend almost half of their monthly pay on it. It is an addiction for a reason. Even those sick from its side-effects still smoke. It takes something extraordinary to quit.

ordinary weed marijuana has no effect onless you smoke marijuana too much because too much of everything has huge effect
