GTBank And Firstbank Playing Games With My ₦50,000 by Jef4u(op): 12:24pm On Jun 02
Hello Nairalanders,

I am creating this thread to publicly call out the gross incompetence of GTBank (@gtbank) and First Bank (@FirstBankngr). I am currently completely stranded, out of cash, and cannot even afford transport fare because both banks are holding onto my money and playing games with my life.

On the 25th of May, 2026, I transferred ₦50,000 from my First Bank account to my GTBank account.

First Bank debited me instantly. After a week of crying out to both banks, First Bank customer care on X just sent me a DM confirming the transaction was successful on their end and gave me the official 30-digit NIBSS Session ID: 000016260525212658002065390897.

Here is where the wickedness from GTBank starts:
1. Over the weekend, a GTBank agent checked their deep server logs and confirmed to me on WhatsApp that they saw the transaction sitting on their server gate on a "BLANK STATUS."

2. Because they saw it, they created a formal inward dispute ticket for me with Reference ID: 260601353720618 and promised it would be credited.

3. Shockingly, this morning (Tuesday, June 2nd), another GTBank agent named Eberechi Chukwueke sent me an email (CRM:033400000396) completely contradicting the bank, claiming they have "no evidence" of the transaction and told me to go back to First Bank!

How can a bank issue a tracking reference ID for a stuck transaction on Monday, and then turn around on Tuesday to say "no evidence"?

If GTBank's server gate rejected the "blank status" transaction, it means the ₦50,000 has automatically reversed back into First Bank’s internal suspense ledger, and First Bank is lazily sitting on my money without crediting my app dashboard!

I am stuck at home, starving, and stranded. Both banks need to stop passing the buck. One of you is sitting on my ₦50,000.

Please help me tag @gtbank and @FirstBankngr handles on social media. Moderators, please move this to the Front Page to save an innocent customer from this institutional nightmare!

There was my 3k four years ago when 3k could still buy 6kg of gas, just a year before Tinubu emerged. I bought something from ibo boy and transferred the 3k to his account. He didn't see the money that successfully left my Gtbank account.

Till today no show after they gave me those reference ID sh**t.

Damon!! Very useless set of crap banks… more especially that first bank, my mom uses it. Sometimes u need to use Allah to beg God before they can resolve transaction issues…

My advice is that, enter both banks physical outlet and create a scene. But now U just said u don’t have shishi on you, how’re you gon do it??

When temu held my money , Opay credited me pending the time the reversal will be back in their account as I’ve provided all refund proof from Temu….

If it is a transaction between first bank & GTB, you may have to pray hard. About ten years ago, I lost ₦5000 when I used my first bank ATM card on a GTB ATM machine. I could not withdraw the money but I was debited all the same. I tried everything within my power to get my money back, but all failed.

On the stated date, NIBSS experienced a system glitch that affected settlement processing.

As a result, some transactions that had already been settled into beneficiaries' accounts were subsequently reversed back to the senders' accounts. In this case, the issue originated from FBN. Kindly contact FBN for resolution and settlement of your funds.

Include:
Your full name and contact details
Account number (you may mask some digits)
Name of the bank
Details of the complaint
Evidence supporting your claim
Copies of correspondence with the bank
Submit your complaint through:
cbn.gov.ng
Email: consumerprotection@cbn.gov.ng
Or visit the nearest CBN branch.

Await their feedback in a jiffy

Don't waste time, Go to their page on X and drop your complain on their timeline, they go rush solve your problem. Infact they go come to your DM begging that you shouldn't post about them publicly again.

It once happened to me and this is what I did and within 24hrs, I was smiling again

This issue was nationwide and it was actually caused by the NIBSS company. They routinely have system failures that becomes a sh*tshow for all banking customers

First Bank did the same to me some time ago. I was subscribing to D.light monthly solar refund and I sent N6,000 using USSD.

The money left my account and did not reach its destination. I was in bank for two different occasions because of it and up till today, it remains unresolved.

I have to pay again so that I can be given a token for charge.

I am sorry, we have a lot of thieves in those commercial banks.
