You may think this happened to Oriire alone but it is a quarter mile from happening to any LGA in Nigeria. These politicians by their actions and inactions sponsor the very terrorism reducing the numbers of your people.


Oriire Local Government in Oyo State, where our children were recently kidnapped, receives over ₦539,221,977 monthly as allocation from the Federal Government.

Let’s do the math:
539,221,977 x 12 = ₦6,470,663,724 (approx. ₦6.4 billion) yearly.

If you multiply that by the last 7 years, you get a staggering ₦45.294 billion.

Now, go to that Local Government and look for any development worth even ₦500 million, not to talk of ₦45.2 billion. It simply does not exist. Then tell me why it wouldn't be prone to insecurity. This is the reality in almost every Local Government Area in Nigeria, with very few exceptions in states like Lagos.

If we turn the searchlight on all 774 Local Governments in Nigeria, the level of neglect inflicted on us by these Governors and their "boi-boi" Council Chairmen will make us all weep for this country.

The Reality of Autonomy and Accountability
I disagree with those looking only at a 7-year timeframe; the figures changed significantly after the recent adjustments when the current administration came in. However, the truth is that local government administration remains a sham. The Federal Government has made it clear that local government autonomy is sacrosanct, yet the execution is poor.

How can a Local Government not have a single Police station or even a police post? In Oriire, you don’t even have an Amotekun sub-station office, yet you have a full Local Government administration. These guys are just running a fraud. There is absolutely no intentionality in protecting your subjects.

The incompetent governor was using the death of the teacher to campaign for presidency. If you have no power to protect your people and must wait for executive orders, resign NOW! This governor is a very insensitive person!

Let's not talk of shooting peaceful protesters yesterday by the governor-orchestrated cultist head (who is supposedly also suffering from the ruins of bad government).

On this specific issue, I absolve President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of any complicity. The blame lies squarely at the feet of the state leadership. Seyi Makinde should take all the blame, and when his tenure expires, he should be made to answer to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC itself is political and nothing will be done! It also shields corruptions when it is its party members! Its beams are only on the poor, but the rich it overlooks! It's a useless organisation too!

Would Chinese citizens ever accept this kind of nonsense? Even though Nigerians are often too complacent, this has to stop.

Addendum: There is a total lack of intentionality on the part of both Federal and State officials in monitoring these disbursements. It is heartbreaking. This is not the type of government we should be bequeathing to the Gen Z generation; if we continue like this, they will end up doing even worse.

On this second note I blame Tinubu because he is also incompetent and the foregod of causing hardship, poverty and sorrow! Like Zeus, you can call him a god of corruption!

The local government can't work cos makinde didn't allow the LG autonomy to work .

He claimed he funded amotekun and equipped them to function effectively......I tell anyone to take a drive through oyo state and tell me what semblance of security architecture you see,take same trip round lagos and see the difference......a thinking gov is supposed to have his boys on ground in every lga,during elections you see them runnibg all over the place but after that they all go home and the gov doesn't care anymore.

Seyi should come tell us how much security votes he has gotten in 7 years,is it true oyo state has only 74 police stations, how many operational vehicles does amotekun have? All the govs are useless when it comes to security except for maybe lagos.
