He ruled Singapore for 31 years 1959 to 1990. No wonder we are not doing well in Africa especially Nigeria. This 4 years business will not take us anywhere. In Nigeria they actually Governed for 2 years by the third year they are preparing for another election and all governance goes into the bin.

I also looked at Dubai they have an absolute Monarch no wonder one man can have a vision in the early 1990’s and by the 2000’s it has come to fruition. Same thing King of Morocco, not to mention President Kigame of Rwanda.

This 4 years business is not going to take us anywhere. Look at Lagos - Calabar expressway it would take at least 8 years b4 that project will finish if well funded. But if not well funded it can take between 20 to 30 years if not outright abandoned.

So we need to look at our Govenace system to determine what is good for us.


I will suggest the term should be increased to 5 years per term. And secondly the second term elections should be an indirect election conducted by electronic voting of 3 voters per ward. Assuming we have 10,000 wards these ward delegates will vote by using their telephone numbers to vote for the second term elections.

By so doing we would have not only have saved money by going through the rigours of a very expensive election cycle but we would have safe time so that development can continue without hindrance.

3 delegates per ward will give us 30,000 delegates which is manageable for a presidency election.

What do you guys think otherwise we would be wasting our time. This method clearly does not work.

Clearly with the examples I have giving this system we are currently running is just doom. It will not take us anywhere. Those examples are as emperical as it can be.

It is not about the old geezeers it is about the educated ones. If we say we are one of the most educated Africans why are we applying a governance system that is doomed. Even the blind can see it is doomed.

We are going to spend 1 trillion naira on a second term that would be rigged. Yet we say we don’t have money. Why not allow 30,000 ward delegates determine the faith of the president through electronic voting which would be free and fair and transparent. Why open the 2nd term to the whole country. The second term should be be a referendum.

The egg heads should sit down and fathom a plausible way of choosing the 3 representatives of the ward that would be fair to all.

Mr man Lagos was a former capital. What Tinubu and his cronies has done is to create a monster like Keji Giwa who said he love the craziness of Lagos where a tourism centre like Landmark beach was destroyed and know known replacement can be identified.

Lagos has become a city for the elites of Lagos where the commissioners, SSA and special adviser to both the Governor of Lagos and the Presidency are the only beneficiaries. The larger population are suffering and smiling. Hence why places like Eko Atlantic City cannot be fully developed 30 years after conception.

Lagos by now should be a first world city. If we are going to to judge BAT we are going to judge him since 1999 to 2026 since he has held the state in the jugular for that long.

It may interest you that Ethiopia built a 750km railway line to Djibouti for $4.5 billion dollars while the less than 15 miles blue line cost 1.5 billion Dollars. Let us be real here.

You have to look at the world's number one democracy, America, to know that democracy has not failed and is the best form of government.

I disagree completely with the OP. Why didn't Nigeria develop when we had military rule? Why didn't Equatorial guinea develop?
Why is Japan and Korea with democracy doing well?
What about Britain, Germany, etc?

Unfortunately we just have to live with a defective system. Are we to put Obi there only for Kwankwoso to overturn everything in 2031. No ways. Continuity is better. I have seen it happen first hand in Ekiti State where Governor Fayemi developed Ikogosi warm spring into a first class tourist centre. Unfortunately Fayemi lost re-election and by the time he came back in 2019 the place was a ghost place. Everything was stripped away including door lintels.

💯% correct. For the cumulative damage that has been done to Nigeria over at least five decades, since the era of Shagari, we must have the awareness to give a reformer a minimum of 8 years to birth the process and hope his successor.recieves the baton progressively.

This is not true..Tinubu cares deeply for Nigerians. He just understands the concept of administering tough love for the sake of the greater good.

As an extremely well-travelled and exposed person, I can tell you without reservation that Nigerians are some of the most unreasonable and difficult people anyone can deal with.

Nothing you do can ever please all or even most Nigerians because of ethno-religious sentiments that makes us prejudiced against each other.

Tinubu knows that and he tries to implement the best tried and tested solutions, that fits our problems, in hope our nation will become developed even if Nigerians have to suffer in the short term.

That is how tough love works. It is why disciplined and strict parents produce the most high-achieving children.

Take Will Smith and David Beckham for example bothe extremely wealthy achievers in entertainment and sports. They have brats for children who are even beefing their fathers and, in the case of Will Smith, have dropped their last name.

This is happening because both men did not understand that fundamental law of nature that made them succeed.

I.e hunger and deprivation that drives the need for success. Take that away and replace it with privilege and extreme wealth, lack of direction and motivation to excel is the outcome.
