The Lagos State Government has arrested 144 beggars during a large-scale enforcement operation across Oshodi, Agege, CMS, and other parts of the city.

The operation, which also involved children among those picked up, forms part of the state's efforts to address street begging, improve public order, and enhance safety in major commercial areas.

The development has sparked mixed reactions, with some residents supporting the crackdown while others call for stronger social welfare and rehabilitation programs to address the root causes of homelessness and poverty.

Authorities say the affected individuals will undergo profiling and further assessment as the operation continues across the state.
