If this is the case, the school is so wrong... Misguided religiousness...

Anyway, the commissioner can't just ask all kids to be dismissed either. Hom sef need use sense; how do the kids get home and the inconvenience to the parents/guardians. He can sanction the school without dismissal.

From the look of things, It's the Salah Holiday and the school being a Christian school refused to go on holiday and that's very very wrong, I guess that was why the Commissioner went there with camera.
But, no big deal in knelling down for coming late to school.

This is not a diplomatic way of handling issue. This commissioner lacks educational training, zero educational pedagogy. No trained teacher will handle this issue this way. He should be fired.

This is wrong. He should have "pleaded" on behalf of students with the Priest which the priest wont certainly refuse. Is he trying to tell the students that there is no repercussions for misconduct or what??

Kneeling has never killed a child, I believe that's is a catholic school and most dont observe Muslim holidays. We never observed any back then when I was in Secondary school too.

Maybe he could go to the seminary and asked them to go on holiday for a Muslim break...

Meanwhile is it corporate punishment or corporal punishment... Prof ndi ugbu..

First of all, Im a catholic and I went to catholic school so muslim holidays never counted for me, if a Muslim school doesn't observe Christmas or Easter or any Catholic feast or celebration it wont matter.

Banks and offices work on sundays in Arab countries and Christmas doesnt mean nothing to them too. However if a public school in the East or south doesnt observe a statutory holiday, I ll have issues with that but if a CATHOLIC school ignores a Muslim holiday or a MUSLIM school ignore a catholic or Christian holiday that is it okay.

There is big deal....this is how children's self esteem start getting damaged.

Children are the future...they deserve to be respected and supported.

It is unfair and dehumanizing to do so to anyone. Even children.

What I know is that, if this happens in a Muslim school, I know the negative comments that must have been dropped on Nairaland
