Differentiate what?
The smaller tribes in the north apart from Fulani and hausa that can also speak these languages. Like those kanuri dem. Not everyone is exposed outside their region to know some differences.

Lol, a typical example of "A thief believes everyone steals". Of course, it's your party or people, and you know how deceitful and dubious they can be. The only time elites negotiate with terrorists is when they weigh the risk and find it very high. Even then, they will still execute a retaliation ASAP. You can't kidnap Chinese, Russian, American, or Israeli citizens(especially children),and hide them in the bush within the country while making demands. Trust me, citizens will just wake up and see the terrorists corpses.

It's also shameful that you're comparing a failed country with failed or should I say compromised security and intelligence to elite nations just because you wanna prove a point. Why are you like this, man?
grin
You will see the terrorists corpse but you are also likely to see the hostages corpse

Go and read about Moscow theatre hstages by the Chechen rebels, All the kidnappers were killed but many of the hostages were also killed

Are you prepared for the hostages in this situation to be killed as well? If someone you know was part of the hostages will you support this commando raid where they get killed?

I have said it before, Nuhu Ribadu has to go. He is complicit, has failed with intelligence gathering and being proactive with intelligence.
Gumi walking freely in this country has already told us the shege we're already inside.

Not just Ribadu, but the top hierarchy of DSS too. I thought DSS is supposed to be our own FBI/internal intelligence agency responsible for gathering intelligence and foiling these types of attacks right from conception stage.

Why do we have an intelligence agency in this country and every fortnight people get kidnapped in almost all parts of the country ?

I have seen videos upon videos of people intercepting and detaining Northerners all because of insecurity

The last one I saw was a bus carrying passengers, and they stopped them, and held them against their will, saying they were "Fulanis"

One woman was even screaming that "They are from Yobe". Does she think the world starts and end from Lagos to Ogun?

I think people need to be careful with the harassment.
All of them are same. They should remain in the north abeg.

So what do you think is the proper way to engage the bandits and free those children?

Negotiate with them, free the children after the children are free, track them and then unleash hell on them

They have the right to move freely in Nigeria. We cannot use emotions to override laws and rights.

We can only be vigilant, but not to harass people for no reason.

Now imagine yourself being the parent of the 3 year old in their custody

Won't you choose negotiations and ransom? grin

Exactly

Sadly, it ends at ransom payment

Sometime this year, we saw the attack on a church in Kwara. We heard ransom was paid, and that's all.

Nothing happened afterwards

Tinubu ehn.

izzuo, I feel their pain trust me, but do we keep negotiating and empowering those animals? Remember with more money, they will acquire more dangerous and expensive weapons and map out other targets and unleash Mayhem. It's such a tough situation.

beslan was a message to everyone. hostage dont work here.

unfortunately we mismanaged the very first kidnap for ransom from obj's time, setting the stage for where we are today
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 1:31pm On Jun 05
The Nigerian military under the lame-duck president Tinubu is incapable of executing military operations to rescue victims of kidnap, or even go after perpetrators even after ransom payments. They should do what they've been doing over the years, pay the kidnappers off and stop with the needless drama and posturing.

Nigerians that are tired of having their common wealth feed a never-ending cycle of kidnapping for ransom under Tinubu know what to do come 2027.

I'm sure you can go farther in time to explain away Tinubu's incompetence.

The issue has been that there is no tough punishment for banditry.

Lagos State is one place where you won't see cars running one-way. Even in serious traffic, you see people queueing. That's because everybody knows the penalty of driving one-way.

All the bandits that were caught. What happened? The Owo case was just concluded after 4 years at the High Court. The Appeal court is still there. The Supreme Court is still there. That's another 4 years struggle if I being fair.

No tough penalty. If Bandits were executed live on NTA, the ones in the bush go dey think twice before dem strike

Honestly, I'm exhausted by this situation. Do you remember what happened when those bandits tried to operate in Rivers State and the response they received? In my view, that firm approach is more effective than endless negotiations. It's difficult to reason with people who continue to shed innocent blood. If these bandits truly believe they are untouchable, they should come to rivers state again.

kidnapping as ransom started under obj

and it was the exact same pattern with DSS delivering ransoms to mend militants.

just as others wiser than you ave pointed out that efcc breaking into houses at 1m without warrant started with ribadu - the roots of kidnapping for ransom in nigeria must be acknowlegded

when it started i remember thinking f the government does not take wise and decisive action on this - we will become like latin ameica, which was the former world kidnap hq

well, they did not and the rest is hisotry

back then a lot of foolish people saw it like 419 - something only expats/whites would suffer

i remember one night in the staff bus and some clown started pointing at white guys and saying what their ransom would cost. from expats it expanded to local oil workers, then to the east - you may not recall just how bad kidnapping was as a scourge in the east in the mid - late 2000s.

now bandits and terrorists have gotten on it for purposes of jihad, and they are even more bestial than those before them

Can you provide proof that DSS was delivering ransom to MEND?

What is happening is Delta sate, Warri precisely?

I've been seeing posts by some Itsekiri telling Delta Ijaws to bring it on..... They said they defeated the whole national Ijaw in 1997 and they will defeat them now that they have access to more "tools".

Una sure say all is well in that side?

We can hope that they will track then down and eliminate them INSTANTLY on the spot. There is something I want to say but might not be politically correct. I am not a fan of arresting and jailing these people, I am a fan of the other option (which I wont mention explicitly here but I am sure you get it). We usually hear of arresting them so that they can give intel on the rest, Any Intel they cannot supply on the spot within 30mins of capture, they should supply it to Satan in Hell after their swift reunion

There are some that have been tracked down and eliminated but these people plenty and are scattered all over, Also you dont know who is who. We dont know who these people are. If we go gung-ho on everyone we suspect as Fulani, it might end up with the situation you were afraid of where every Northerner is a suspect, You will just hear say I heard Abu and one guy speaking Hausa Shikena, tyre and petrol don set

I am sure you wish for a better solution, this is what I was telling You, ellexy and blueraydick yesterday and they claimed its a funny advice

WHat options do you have where small children are involved, even advanced militaries still end up negotiating unless you have accepted that the kids will die

BTW today makes it 3 weeks inside the forest for kids whose average age is 8yrs old
