Mr. President should fast track the restructuring of security and the creation of subnational institutions to get this monkey off his back.

Every passing day that a person is abducted, killed or a community in a far flung place is sacked, all eyes will rightly turn on Abuja because to whom is given absolute power, absolute responsibility is expected.

You claim to have given states greater allocations than ever. Now give them greater responsibilities than ever. The resources are not only for pilgrimages and flyovers, but to secure the people within their jurisdiction.

In a few years then the next level of policing should kick into gear, local government/county police commands/departments to ensure the law touches every village and hamlet.

Then let me see where these brigands will hide when over a million men and women put on the uniform full time and part time and place their hands on the Holy books to swear to uphold the law and bring criminals to the noose.

Just consider Abuja with each Area Council having its own police. How for instance will the cows roam freely when they know AMAC maybe tolerant but as soon as they cross into Bwari all the cows will be rounded up and confiscated.

Let me ask you this question.
Do you know the house of any policeman or where their children attend school. That is a policeman not your relation.

That is how far the average citizen is from the protection of law enforcement.

I have taxi drivers on speed dial, my auto mechanic, my barber, my attorney, family doctor, etc, but how come the police is so distant from the scheme of things despite the fact they are supposed to offer a critical service.

Why, be cause the Nigerian police by structure is not service oriented. They don't work for the citizens. They don't know them, we don't know them. They are a vestage of colonialism when they were created to be a barrier between the people and government. To keep law and order. That is why they were named 'The Police Force'.

If you have policing brought down to community levels, where they worked WITH people and lived amongst them, they know you and you know them. They attend the same worship centres and are proud to wear the uniform to weddings, graduations and funerals of people they serve and vise versa then how will they nor be there when you need them, how will they not be willing to make the sacrifices to protect what they consider theirs.

Look Nigerians. We are a long way off spinning the web of a decent, progressive society.

At this stage, Nigeria needs to adopt a 50-50 strategy to every kidnap incident.
Storm the area, rescue the victims, kill all terrorists, ensure damage control and compensation.
This way these idiots will know the game is over for money making and playing with human lives.
