What he opened at best was that those expats that were kidnapped back then in the naija Delta had their ransom paid by the IOCs they are working for.

I've always asked what we benefit from this Borno state.. Since I picked interest in Nigeria affairs, I've hardly heard or seen any good news from this state.. Can't count how many soldiers we've lost in this same state, now beheading of soldiers has happened in the same state..

let me clarifiy - i did not say DSS paid the ransom - i said DSS agents delivered the ransom payment to MEND
and as a naija matter, you will always get your own kickback for services rendered and it all goes down from there

Do u honestly think MEND would trust DSS as escrow for money they(MEND) did all the work? I serious doubt this thing wey u talk.

Maybe If I see a credible source write about it sha , I fit believe. To the best of my knowledge, Most of those foreign owned companies have ex- British Army officers, Ex-Special forces officers as their head of security who have had experience in hostage negotiation. Na them dey deal directly with the MEND guys.

mend was so successful that the IOS have largely relocated out of the ND since the 2000s

what i recall was obj was shopping for drones to use to flush militants out but he could not get them during his administration

It was Yar Adua that granted amnesty to Niger Delta Militants in which he called for them to submit their arms and register under the amnesty program. Amnesty began 2009 , 2 years after OBJ exited the scene

Yep, Yar Adua resulted to amnesty when initial military action wasn't working.

I think his more laid back nature plus the political blackmail of the optics of a Northern President bombing Southern minorities made him capitulate and agree to Amnesty.
