There was no such thing as Asaba massacre.

Murtala had hunted down Biafran rogue soldiers who were not able to escape across the Niger bridge before Ojukwu blew it up when his rogue invasive army retreated from the Midwest following their defeat at Ore.

Those so-called civilians were actually Biafran soldiers who had ditched their uniforms and tried to blend with the civilian population.

They were rounded up and summarily executed as spies as the United Nations war convention explicitly states that any belligerent party in a war must always maintain their uniforms and carry identification papers when surrendering. Those guys ditched their uniforms and wore mufti. Several were captured in Benin and Warri and summarily executed as spies as the Geneva convention does not apply to spies and since they ditched their uniforms, ranks and papers that would have identified them as would be POWs, the Geneva convention did not apply to them and as such were treated as spies and executed on the spot.

You should also be aware that Biafran soldiers retreating from the battle of Ore, pillaged every non Ibo community in the Midwest on their retreating path. These same banzas were part of the Biafran rogue army that could not make it across the Niger before Ojukwu blew the bridge up and decided to ditch their uniforms and blend in with the civilian population.

Several communities in Rivers and Akwa Ibom were totally wiped out by Biafran soldiers and the survivors marched into the heartland of Ibo land on the orders of Ojukwu never to be seen again.

Ojukwu even gave the order that any riverine community facing an imminent "threat" by Nigerian forces be evacuated. By evacuation, Ojukwu meant total anilihation.

If Biafra was so good for the minorities, why were young minority men risking their lives to escape into Nigeria to join the Nigerian side?

Ojukwu set up patrol units to prevent the young men from escaping and every single day, there were bodies floating on the rivers that had been shot by Biafran soldiers.

Let me not even talk about the barbaric and abominable acts of open air cannibalism practiced by the Biafran soldiers and civilians in places like Port Harcourt.

In Warri , a group of young itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo youth had stormed a Biafran military camp with machetes and clubs on hearing that the Biafran soldiers had been torturing , raping and cannibalism their fellow people. The mob was able to overpower the Biafran soldiers who fled like the cowards they are and on scrutiny of the camp , they found remains of roasted human parts .
