This is a loose talk.

What did they bring from their village while going to Lagos. Majority of them went through the night bus with nylon bag.
Lagos made the Igbos, simple
You too should go to anambra with night bus and nylon so, that the state will make. Lazy outh like u in the words of our late former president.

Confirmed, To Be Honest The Entire Yoruba Nation Contributes Less Than 35 Percent
If the Yoruba leaders can calm their own brain and come up with policies that generate investment and also ensure businesses to thrive in progress then your Igbo leaders lack vision and wisdom to come up with any reasonable policy

Any of you that is tired of progress of Yoruba land you can pack all your nonsense investment that is not upto 20% of Chinese companies investment and go away

You Igbo have this grandiose delusion, if we are talking about investment Igbos total investment in Lagos is not up to 15% what is your problem of over overvalued ideas

Why

Does Anambra also belong to all Nigeria?

lightwind:
Oh i didn't know Kwara was also a Yorubaland. And many Yorubas i had conversations with online were excluding and removing Kwara from their map, saying it is not a Yorubaland because of the Fulanis there.

Ok, please read the history behind mass migration to Lagos Nigeria by different TRIBES of Nigeria during the 1960s. Just try there's no shame in knowing things you have no knowledge before.

I am saying this because i wasn't arguing with you of what tribe owns Lagos Nigeria, where my argument lies is for those saying that the Yorubas made Lagos that after making Lagos what it is today, then the Igbos or others started migrating to Lagos.

Lagos State Nigeria has been a HOME to all TRIBES in Nigeria since 1914 till today. All Nigeria tribes OWNS Lagos Nigeria our former capital and also it's home to our colonial masters before they left Nigeria.

Lagos, Nigeria belongs to all of us Nigerians.
These are the kind of statements that your kins make and then there's wahala, you will soon say they hate your triibe, how do you call a man's land,no land or land for everybodyhuh Is that how you accommodate others in your own town?
Re: ‘The Igbos Have Given A Lot To Lagos Economy’ – Rapper Illbliss (Video) by khazeem(m): 5:28pm On Jun 05
I wish you can say that if you could accommodate a Yoruba king in your Igbo community just like you have din in other Yoruba land…. Or if you can sell your piece of land to the plenty Yoruba in your eastern regions….. you guys came to Lagos cause it’s accommodating and show of success of you willing to work just like we Nigerians do abroad….
The yorubas allowed you people to thrive willingly, cause that’s who we are… if e easy carry what you are giving Lagos back to your villages and see if it would work !!

In 2025, Lagos State attracted $2.56 billion in foreign capital (dropping to second place nationally behind the FCT), heavily skewed toward portfolio investments. In contrast, its robust domestic economy generated an estimated ₦1.87 trillion ($~2.2B) in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), highlighting the massive scale of local business over foreign capital inflows

Above is the analysis of what Lagos IGR in 2025

Igbos pls if total local is 2.2 billion dollars revenue how much did Lagos state government generated from dangote, GLO, and some other non Igbo business calculate how much IGR Igbos contributed and have sense

True talk we should accomodate each other, igbos don’t really like theirselves in their homelands main reason why Dey move to other part of the country or world for trading. Na fear of being killed at home when u are already excelling. Use to make them come to Lagos.
When u don’t even like yourselves u want other trybe to like and accept you…hmm okay ooo

Complete lies, igbos are explorers that is why they don't live in their states they rather move to other state to explore and seize opportunities available in places they go, especially in trade and commerce. They are fearless and courageous to take risk. The core belief is that as an igbo man it's required that you leave your place to make wealth before coming back home. Pls let's respect the igbos.

Me I just hate when Igbos think yorubas can't do business and we won't survive with their trade, go and check the multinational businesses driving the economy and work force they are majorly occupied by yorubas and hausa
That was what some of them thought before until the Advent of the internet that showed that Yoruba control almost 60% of the economy of Nigeria.
Yorubas control more important sectors of the economy in Nigeria even as Dangote flexes muscle.
Yorubas have the longest surviving businesses in Nigeria.

Next time ask which part of Lagos was the former capital of Nigeria and your daddy will educate you better.
You have encroached beyond the capital to the best of my knowledge
I don't know why you people keep saying this same thing over and over again. This same line of selecting places that you lots claimed was where the capital of Nigeria was in Lagos.
Why are you guys keep doing this, it's unfair to select some places in Lagos as only once a capital of Nigeria.
Is like selecting
Gwagwalada,
Garki
Wuse
Maitama
Asokoro and the community where Aso Rock is located as the only capital of Nigeria, neglecting the whole of Abuja as the capital.

You guys are highly educated in Nigeria, you should all stop doing this for some reasons which we know nothing about.
This is unfair bro honestly!

This Colonial Masters, places they lived in Nigeria during their time here were a little bit planned and arranged cities till today.

Lagos Nigeria was their HOME before they left everyone knows that.

We also wish they can look homeward and give back to the economy of their region too. And make the region a place every Nigerians will cherish (covet and call a nomansland) and want to call home for her available opportunities.

All region in Nigeria must equally experience economic growth. Not until Yorubaland is overpopulated.

You (literally) can't give what you don't have (- or can't replicate - in your own home)...
You think Lagos would be like this without being FCT ? If yorubas built Lagos why haven’t they replicated it ?

Igbos built onitsha ,built aba very similar cities
We built owerri n Enugu similar

Lagos Nigeria is a Yoruba land, it is in the map like that and very close to the Atlantic Ocean i mean it borders Atlantic Ocean. Where our colonial masters came into Nigeria from.

I didn't call Lagos Nigeria a no man's land!

Cities like Abidjan in this same west Africa is better developed than Lagos by infrastructure but it was not like that during the days of the western region. Nowhere in west Africa was as developed as Ibadan or Lagos back then.

Therefore if no Nigeria do you think Lagos population would have been lower or the infrastructure worse? Presently Abidjan is a more expensive city to live in than Lagos.

The selling point of Lagos is the high population and some status it gained like being the unicorn capital of Africa and etc. It was also ranked highest at a point for tech innovation or so. How did Nigeria achieve all that for Lagos? Nigeria or not the population would have been there. The population is in New York
It is also strategically located very very close to the Atlantic Ocean, it borders Atlantic Ocean.

Yes. Yoruba made Lagos wat it is today. It has been developed long before ur great grand fathers ever thought of migrating there. It has been a major trading centre between the Yorubas and Portuguese as far back as in 13th century. So you igbos have nothing on lagos. It made you!!

Well, u will have to go the markets and check how many of their shops that are there and how many other Igbo businesses that do not run in a market setting , u will get a clue of that. Do u know how much businesses pay for signage alone, and other taxes they pay? Well, these figures may look small to you. Aggregate them daily, weekly, monthly and yearly maybe u will understand.

I think we need to realize that small scale businesses is what build big economies around the world. America and Europe is where they are today because of small businesses and allowing different people to come in with their own ideas.
U mentioned dangote, u think dangote and hlo will be where they are today without the input of small businesses doing Business with them?
I took this time to type all of this cos I feel u are open to learning and appear reasonable. So, please, let's not just look at figures from data, let's concentrate more on the root propeller of those figures. No foreign company will bring in FDI without having enough market on ground to do business with and the igbos add up significantly to that market they need to come into Lagos with the accompanying FDI

Your head get oil bro!

Exactly!!!

How i wished Lagos was part of south east or south south that is close to Atlantic Ocean like that, borders Atlantic Ocean... Just from there you get to other parts of the world through maritime Ocean way.

He for don developed more than this, my Igbo brothers could of used the opportunities to expand trade etc to other SE States.
