Makinde should stop all these eye service, he should go and provide security in all public schools in Oyo, ordinary school fence you can't do and you want to become president.
It's Tinubu
Not makinde
Tinubu controlled all the security in the country not governors

All these no count, simply teach APC and Tinubu political lesson come 2027.

Insecurity was a game that he played into becoming Nigeria president and he is now reaping what he sowed, he will be eject from aso rock.

Before Makinde takes your advice, kindly tell Tinubu to resign first.

He told Jonathan to resign because of insecurity. Consistency demands that the same standard be applied today.
What consign you with what Tinubu told Jonathan. Are you Jonathan's boyfriend, cousin or his driver.

See Jonathan laughing at your gullibility

MT:
The governor is the number security officer for his state. That's why he's paid a lot of security vote each month which he doesn't need to explain how it is spent according to the law.

Lot of things need to be amended in Nigeria. It's an open secret that most governors are just chopping their state monthly security votes anyhow while blaming the presidency.
Even house members have constituency development packages. This doesn’t take away the responsibility of developing their constituencies from the governor. You can’t twist the narrative no matter how much you try.

If governors were in charge of security, Tinubu will not do what he did to Fubara in Rivers.

The President is in charge, and if his IGP and commissioners of police are failing, he knows what to do.

But since he doesn’t know what to do, we Nigerians know what to do.

They quickly deployed their intelligence against a suspect that allegedly doctored the President’s voice (according to them).

The same bandits are online as well.
Is the Police Army and DSS that will form wall of fence in all our school. Is it government that is paying the security man in your street? Tell me you don't have fence where you live in Nigeria.

- Sure. Hopefully they don't touch their mother too. I remember reading about one NTA presenter who was kidnapped that year but when she was released couldn't cope with life anymore. Apparently they touched her unkindly.

State Governors are firmly in charge of the security of their state. If he fails in upholding this responsibility, and his state becomes ungovernable, the President can declare state of emergency. It is the position of our constitution.

What Practical Steps Should Southwest States Take Against Banditry and Terrorism?

For me

1. Establish a Comprehensive Resident Identity System

The Each State Government should develop a comprehensive resident identity and address verification system to improve security, planning, and service delivery. Every resident should be encouraged to register through a centralized database linked to verified residential addresses. This system will assist law enforcement agencies in identifying criminal elements, tracking suspicious activities, and improving emergency response capabilities while respecting constitutional rights and privacy protections.

2. Registration and Regulation of Herders

All herders operating within Each State should be required to register with the State Government and the relevant Local Government Authorities before engaging in grazing or livestock activities. Registration should include biometric identification, location of operation, livestock records, and compliance with state regulations. This measure will promote accountability, reduce farmer-herder conflicts, and help security agencies identify unauthorized or suspicious activities.

3. Monitoring and Prevention of Violent Extremism

The government should strengthen collaboration between security agencies, community leaders, and religious organizations to identify and prevent violent extremism. Authorities should monitor and investigate individuals or organizations suspected of supporting terrorism, radicalization, or violent activities, regardless of religious affiliation. Any person found to be promoting or financing terrorism should face prosecution in accordance with Nigerian law.

4. Promote Agricultural Self-Sufficiency

Each Southwest State should invest heavily in agriculture to enhance food security and create employment opportunities. Government support should include access to improved seedlings, mechanized farming, irrigation systems, agricultural training, storage facilities, and access to markets. Increased agricultural productivity will reduce economic vulnerabilities and strengthen rural communities.

5. Develop a Community and Neighbourhood Intelligence Network

A structured neighbourhood intelligence network should be established across communities in each state State. Residents, community leaders, traditional institutions, and security agencies should work together to identify emerging security threats and share relevant information. Such a system should operate within legal frameworks and emphasize the protection of citizens' rights.

6. Eliminate Illegal Settlements in Deep Forest Areas

The government should conduct a comprehensive survey of forest reserves and remote settlements. Unauthorized settlements established in deep forests, particularly those linked to criminal activities, should be dismantled through lawful procedures. Forest reserves should be regularly monitored and patrolled to prevent their use as safe havens for kidnappers, bandits, terrorists, and other criminal groups.

7. Swift Prosecution of Serious Crimes

The State Government should strengthen collaboration with the judiciary and security agencies to ensure the swift investigation and prosecution of kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, illegal arms trafficking, and organized crime. Fast-track procedures should be considered for cases involving serious threats to public safety while ensuring due process and fair trials.

8. Establish Formal Reporting Channels for Suspicious Activities

Multiple reporting channels should be created to enable citizens to report suspicious activities safely and confidentially. These channels may include dedicated hotlines, mobile applications, community liaison officers, and local security committees. Public awareness campaigns should educate citizens on how and when to report security concerns.

9. Promote Civic Education and Constitutional Values

Schools across each State should strengthen civic education programs that teach constitutional rights, responsibilities of citizenship, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the rule of law. Young people should be equipped with the knowledge and values necessary to contribute positively to society and resist extremist influences.

10. Prosecute Incitement to Violence

The government should adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward incitement to violence, hatred, terrorism, or public disorder. Individuals who promote violence through public speeches, religious gatherings, traditional institutions, political platforms, social media, or any other means should be investigated and prosecuted according to the law, regardless of their status or background.

11. Expand Vocational and Technical Education

Each State should significantly expand vocational and technical education opportunities to equip young people with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship. Training programs should focus on modern agriculture, information technology, construction, renewable energy, manufacturing, and other high-demand sectors. Empowering youth economically will reduce vulnerability to recruitment by criminal organizations and extremist groups.

Seyi Makinde is ending his tenure as a failure.. the guy is busy fo0ling himself thinking he can be President instead of him to go out full force on the terrorists that have entered his State.

We have been raising alarm about this stvpid and docile behavior of some Yorubas but they think we don't know what we are saying.

Truth is.. PBAT is the only Southerner with high chances of winning in 2027. All others are just deceiving themselves including Seyi Makinde.

Mind you, this is just one of several mansions he has in Nigeria. And I'm sure he has mansions in other countries as well.
Nigeria should be better than many countries in Europe, but our corrupt, wicked, selfish leaders have shared our national cake to acquire properties.

Do you want him to enter the bush by himself or what force do you expect him to use ? Keep in mind that he doesn't control the military nor the police. So if you were in Makinde's shoes what would you do ?

And yes, Makinde is very much qualified to be a president. But unfortunately, because most Nigerians don't vote with sense, they will prefer Tinubu (who doesn't care about their papa) to Makinde (someone who constantly demonstrates empathy and care for people's well-being).

To support APC and Tinubu you just have to reason like a kindergartner, so for your mind now, mounting a fence solve security challenges? Cases of robbers and assassin scaling fences to launch an attack on people is impossible or the armed bandits wouldn't have attacked the school if a fence was erected😂

I'm not hating, just angry at how a so called learned person can be so heartless and clueless.
We need to approach the Supreme court to look into "security votes" FG gives to these State Governors. If they can't provide security because they are not the CSOs as you claimed, then what business do they have collecting billions from State coffers under "security votes".

There is no law that say States can't operate drones for security surveillance.. Moreover most of the Military formations are usually receptive of State Government efforts to collaborate on Security. Wike did it in Rivers, is doing it in FCT.. So what exactly is Seyi Makinde and South West Governors problem if not greed and dishonesty?.

Money they won't take to the grave when they die, not even 1 kobo is what Yorubas now priorize over human lives. Odua will fight all of them.

You made valid points which are facts!

So where has the security votes of the states been going?

For such large scale crime to happen, it tells you security is nothing to write home about! The governor is not even giving frequent briefings on progress to families and well wishers. Should His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) be doing that too?

Call a spade a spade and distribute blames accordingly.

The occurrence already shows the Governor does not give a flying fwck about the people of Oyo. He is only making moves that appeal to the press.

The Governor should learn from Fashola and see how he massively equip the RRS. They even have a chopper!
